Like everyone else, we’re always trying to come up with something new. And then I realized that some of our most successful reels have been…much ado about nothing. Like Goose splashing around on the pool cover in the dark, or us practicing “heel” around objects in the house when everything outside was covered in ice.

So…every Friday we’re going to post a reel of whatever we happen to be doing. No fancy filters, no soundtracks, just us and our own voices (and, believe me, Goose has one). So come back next Friday and see what we’re up to!

So I’m going to ask for all of my friends’ help with this one. There’s a mystery I want to solve. Goose knew instinctively what to do with her herding ball the first time she saw it when she was just a pup. But then there are other toys she treats like herding balls, and I have no idea why. I can’t figure out what it is about these particular toys that shift her Aussie brain into herding mode. And I’m dying to know.

So I’ll humble myself into doing a little begging here…if you have a herding dog or are knowledgeable about what makes them designate certain toys as herding toys, please comment, repost, and share with any breeders you know. I don’t usually ask for help like this, but I need to know if this is a common trait or if my dog is just a weirdo! #australianshepherd #herdingdogs #jollyballislife #chuckitfetchgames #aussiesofinstagram

If Bridesmaids was a dog movie… 😭💖
Lola’s bachelorette party started classy...

The girls said “hold my pink drink.”
The boys had their Hangover moment.
The girls chose chaos.

Wedding countdown: Feb 14 💍
Still cute. Still besties.

(If you submitted your pet and don’t see them tagged yet — more wedding reels are coming 💖 We can't accept any more submissions.)

A lot of the country is still suffering from the effects of #icestorm2026 , and some will continue to do so for weeks as the power grid is rebuilt. For others (like me!), it’s just too cold and the risk of a fall is too high.)

What are you doing with your pup if you’re buried under snow
#

But you can continue practicing most of your #dogobedience training inside. This reel shows Goose and me practicing “heel” inside. You can also easily do “place,” “stay” etc., inside. Kids have a #snowday ? Have little kids act as distractions (which shouldn’t be too hard), and teach bigger kids how to do some of the lessons. If you have a young #puppy , have every body sit in a circle and practice “come” (this also helps teach new pups their names!) by taking turns calling the dog too them. The faster the game goes, the sooner the puppy gets worn out!

For those of us in the south, these days where the world goes on pause are a gift. Make a snowman. Curl up with your kids and watch a movie. But use some of this pause from the busy world to work with your pup!

(For those of you from “up north,” we rarely get snow; we get ice. The two are not the same. So just because you can drive in the snow doesn’t mean you can drive on ice. It’s a lot slicker, and you may have to navigate downed trees and power lines.)

What are you doing with your pup if you’re buried in snow and ice? Answer in the comments and tag a friend!

I never know if these “Days” are real or if somebody just woke up that morning thinking, “Watch what happens…” (something I heard all too frequently from one of my children when they were little!). Either way, I’ll gladly take the opportunity to show off Goose. She’s a blue merle Australian shepherd who just turned 1, always makes us laugh, sometimes makes us pull our hair out, and makes our world a better place (if you ignore the trail of destruction she leaves in her wake!). #nationalaustralianshepherdday #bluemerleaustralianshepherd #aussiesofinstagram #lifeouthere

Real or made up, let’s keep it going! Post a picture of your Aussie and give me a tag
