2016….what a pivotal year! 💕 It was the year I decided to take the leap into my culinary career as a “second chapter”. Looking back 10 years, it’s amazing to see how life points you in the way you’re supposed to go when you just put it out there and always just try your best. They say nothing happens overnight and I guess that’s true! 💫
• I met @ayeshacurry at a book signing, can’t remember what I said in the 30 seconds I had, but I do remember she said “just keep on keeping on”. A few years later, I was a guest on GMA for a couples cook off and she was one of the judges. She didn’t remember me & I didn’t remind her, which was probably better given the circumstances, but it was a full circle moment from those words in 2016 and knowing it myself in the back of my mind was all I really needed.
• Attended a few ‘In Residence’ dinners with @tylerflorence at Wayfare Tavern after a chance meeting on a flight in 2015. My dad and I used to watch Food Network religiously back when it was all cooking shows, I learned so much! So meeting him was another full circle moment and it caught me at exactly the right time as a means of inspiration & motivation.
• In the spirit of “keeping on”, I enrolled in culinary school with a bunch of 20 something’s. At that point, I already had 20 years of cooking experience, so sometimes I learned and sometimes I felt like I was helping teach. I started my food blog website as a way to share what I was learning and cooking along the way. IG photos of food were quick & easy, so food photography began on our dinner table nightly…nothing had to be perfect, it was about sharing ideas and inspiration. I miss those days.
