It was an absolute joy spending three weeks in Ann Arbor at the @collaborativepianoinstitute this summer. I had the opportunity to study with an amazing host of faculty artists and to make friends with some of the most talented (and nicest) people I've ever met.

Continuing our participant introductions for our 2026 season, please welcome Collaborative Pianist Anica Warkentine and Bass-Baritone Austin Prince! 🎹🎶🎤

Anica Warkentine is a passionate pianist and teacher who enjoys musical collaboration in a
variety of genres from art song to chamber music, opera and choral music. Following her solo debut with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in 2023, Anica devoted herself to collaborative piano studies at the University of Manitoba, where she recently completed a Master of Music. As a chamber musician, she has been featured in Winnipeg’s Virtuosi series and ReSound concerts. Anica has appeared with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra as principal keyboardist and as a répétiteur with Manitoba Underground Opera. She has studied collaborative piano at Domaine Forget, the duo526 Sonata Seminar at Indiana University, Orford Musique, and the Collaborative Piano Institute. An enthusiastic teacher and clinician, Anica has begun to adjudicate at festivals across Canada. Apart from teaching and performing, Anica enjoys work as a recreation and music facilitator at West Park Manor Personal Care Home.

Austin Prince is a junior Voice Performance major at Baldwin Wallace University, where he studies with Dr. Marc Weagraff. Most recently he has been seen as Aeneas in Baldwin Wallace’s production of Dido and Aeneas in collaboration with Playhouse Square. Last year, Austin had the incredible opportunity to sing in the chorus of Opera Western Reserve’s Faust and made his Cleveland Museum of Art debut as Quinn in “Speed Dating Tonight!”. In 2024 he made his Playhouse Square debut as Farasmane in Handel’s Radamisto and appeared in BW’s The Merry Widow as Raoul de St. Brioche.
