Couldn’t be happier - your boy is bringing the @jambaloolive trophy home to Fort Worth!! So much love to all of you for making this happen, getting to represent the north TX music scene on a whole new level is an honor. Thank you to the @jambaloolive + @mullenmullenmusicproject team, the @longhornballroom crew, and my beautiful band for making this whole thing a reality.
•
To everyone that voted, spun the record, or sent love our way - THANK YOU. This is a big win for the home team and I certainly didn’t do it alone.
•
We’ll talk about it more soon, but we’re celebrating tonight. Love y’all 🤍

Today is the last day to vote for HIGHLONESOME as your 2025 album of the year through the folks at @jambaloolive! I’ve been blown away by all of the love over the past month or two since this got announced. Being able to make music, travel the country, and be a part of the north TX music community has been one of the greatest joys of my life since I was a teenager, so being nominated for something like this feels really special. It’s not about the accolades, it’s about the opportunities that something like this gives to an artist - I want the keep knocking down the walls and opening doors for both myself and the community I represent. The debut MM album Compadre came out in 2015, and HIGHLONESOME marked my fifth studio LP ten years later. Here’s to ten more years, and ten more after that.

Cast your vote (it takes 10 seconds) and comment/message me if you need the link. Appreciate y’all more than you know!

A couple of release anniversaries this weekend within the world of Matte Black Sound! @matthewmcnealtx’s GOOD GRIEF was released six years ago yesterday, and HIGHLONESOME was released one year ago today!
•
Even more wild to think about: GOOD GRIEF was our 5th official release, while HIGHLONESOME was out 25th!
•
Thank y’all for being in our corner, cheers to even more releases this year!

Honored to announce that @matthewmcnealtx’s HIGHLONESOME has been nominated to Album of the Year by our friends at @jambaloolive + @mullenmullenmusicproject!
•
The JAMBALOO team has helped make big waves the past couple of years by bringing a “free week” model to north Texas and putting on great shows in the community and beyond.
•
They have opened up voting for the AOTY music prize - which consists of a support slot on a killer show at @longhornballroom with @marcrebillet as well as a $20k check, which would be a total game changer for the MBSC camp.
•
The whole MM gang is honored to be nominated amongst such great artists that we have in the greater DFW music scene. Big love to the whole community for rocking with us!
•
Find the link to vote in the usual spot. It takes all of 30 seconds and makes a big difference for us. Thank y’all!
