Elections got you down? Let this radicalize you: community is the answer! Presenting an original Crown Heights Care Collective production 🎬… a lil reel capturing glimpses of our final community-building dayfair from the Rootwork summer series with the Brower Park Library!

The theme of the day was Collective Care for Kids, and it included workshops on non-carceral education, fighting family policing, and forming childcare collectives, as well as lunch, free stores, and loads of kids’ activities. The neighborhood showed up with beaming smiles, strong opinions, and a commitment to building community institutions that empower us to take care of each other. 🪴

Though the political heads of power change, seeing abolition through hyperlocal organizing remains the goal. The care with / for our neighbors, plant allies, and comrades lay the foundation of deep trust and community strength. The work continues … meaning … Rootwork ain’t over yet! ✊🏽

We are continuing the ideas and projects ignited during the summer dayfairs through a monthly community conversation series that kicks off THIS SATURDAY, November 9, with a brainstorm on developing neighborhood collectives for childcare. Per usual, there will be food and fun stuff for kids. Come through! ✨

Shout out to Nic (@glisteningangel) and Garon (@dewlaplip) for editing and producing these stories into a beautiful video 🎥

Thanks to @gabecelder for lending us his incredible cinematography skills and allowing us to preserve these memories! 📸
