Bookstagram is such a special corner of social media, filled with incredible literature and artists. We wanted to make it easy to branch out further into the world of self-published authors. The artists who are forging their own paths and making their own rules.

This list is scifi, fantasy, romantasy and dystopian, but nowhere near complete. We couldn’t include or tag everyone, so feel free to shout out your favorite self-published author (included or not)! Show them love on Instagram whenever you can and check out our slides to see why.

📖 EDEN by Kylo Kirby

My debut dystopian horror book EDEN is coming very very soon 👀🌲🏚️🦌🖤

There’s the end of the world, there’s sadness, there’s heartbreak, there’s love, and there tears (a lot of them). What more can you ask for. Available as both an ebook and a paperback, EDEN is a dystopian, end of the world horror book set in Wyoming. It follows our main character Jax as he tries to save his daughter from a rouge government faction in a world that’s overrun by aggressive, mutated animals. This book battles grief, love, heartbreak and terror as we explore the new hostile world and what monsters hunt within it.

What you can expect from EDEN:
🪾A hostile overgrown world
🏚️ Post apocalyptic survival horror
👫 Found Family
🦌A terrifying horror with a crazy plot twist
🌲 Humans vs Nature
👨🏻‍⚖️ Evil government faction
🩸 Dark gritty atmosphere

If this sounds like the dystopian horror book you’ve been waiting for, click the link in my bio to sign up for an ARC 👀

✨ What is the perfect length of a book for you? ✨

I don’t think novellas and short stories get enough hype. There’s something special about a story that can do so much with so little. Perfect for those in between moments when you want to read, but don’t want to commit to something massive… and somehow still capable of the same emotional wreckage.

This little collection has some of my favorites, and thank you to @josiahblizzardwrites for sending That Which Follows You Home to add to the stack 🖤 I have a feeling this one is going to linger. Blurb in the comments!

Indie Novellas 😃

Let's be real, a short novella to tackle our book goals is always pretty sweet.

It's also usually pretty interesting to get an additional short story or taste of the authors writing to accompany a full novel or series.

Here are some indie novellas I've got on my shelf! I have only read An Inkling of Flame so far!

🗯️Do you enjoy novellas?

Weekly Good Stuff!

Thought I'd catch you up on what's going on in my life. Especially this week. Focusing on some good things because I already have depression and negativity. I could sure use a focus on the good.

First, I want to mention that I checked the Finalists for The Indie Ink Awards.

Congratulations to Brady Hunsaker on your becoming a Finalist for Best Cover/Cover Designer for your book Deaths of Vanalf!
You hire the best artists. Maybe more than you should but you simply can't help yourself. We're glad for it. Because wow, your covers always look fantastic. I hope you win.

Congratulations to Timothy K. Clark for your becoming a Finalist for Wittiest character written!
As I'm currently reading your book, I can totally see it.
They're definitely talking about Finley. Rise of the Dragon Witch is really good so far. Hope you win.

Yeah, I'm currently reading Rise of the Dragon Witch by Timothy K. Clark and absolutely enjoying myself in this unique interwoven world based in various myths and stories. It adds some interesting vibes.

I'm also reading Among The Cursed Gods by T.J. Lundin. Adventurous Treasure Hunting is just what a homebody with social anxiety needs to read. To feel like I'm exploring Peru seeking a mysterious artifact from the comfort of my bedroom.

Few more things, I've been watching Pokémon B&W.
Having so much fun but it's almost over. Only a few episodes left. Then I'll watch Pokémon XY series next.
Ah, I feel like I'm reliving my childhood.
When I was having fun with the light show & rainbow colored foamy soap at the car wash too.

Also, I've been happily receiving some lovely book mail. So, Rings of Fate by Melissa de la Cruz (Fantasy) and The Pathfinder by John Bennett (sci-fi). Aka my two favorite genres.
Special shoutout to John Bennett because sci-fi is difficult to find on IG. Would it hurt to see more sci-fi in feed? Seriously, if you know an indie sci-fi author, please tag them. Please tell me they exist. I seldom see them. John Bennett, I'm looking to read this whole series so I am hoping you become a new favorite. I need that sci-fi in my life.

Reviews coming up.
Until next time.
