Greatly inspired by a BEAUTIFUL wintry flatlay Rochelle @novelsanddaydreams did back in 2024 that I found while searching for The Snow Child Bookstagram ideas, I was compelled to do my own. Like Rochelle, I went with the blue and white theme and some wintry props 🌨️ I even used some of the same books 🫣🤩⁣

PAST DUE ARCs:
PART 2

In an effort to hold myself accountable I will be posting my past due ARCs over the next couple of days.

My inability to read these books in a timely manner is in no way a reflection of the authors or their work.

Simply put, I dropped the ball. Between accepting ARCs from Indie authors, being a permanent ARC team member (for nearly a dozen), and requesting on Netgalley I spread myself way too thin.

My deepest apologies to the authors who have entrusted me with their hard work in exchange for a review.

Moving forward I will be holding off on accepting new books till I can make a significant dent in my backlog.

*To help make up for my late reviews I have purchased physical and or electronic copies!

The Hotel Room Mix Up is a romantic comedy with the great romance tropes of one-bed/ forced proximity - which always guarantees a fun read.

My favourite character was Jessie - she was a riot! I would love for her to have her own book with her happily ever after with Oliver.

I really enjoyed the ‘will they won’t they’ of this story and that Callum and Ella were intriguing characters with a lot of back story and baggage.

I received a copy of this for my honest review.

Our FMC is a former model and actress trying to check into a hotel for he friends wedding, only the hotel has gone through some changes, and so has two weddings booked that weekend, and overbooked the rooms. Our MMC is back in town for his sister-in-law's wedding, but having a hard time as she is the sister of his late wife. Unfortunately, their room is one in the same - as well as the mother and father of the bride of one of the weddings. Since not all 4 of them can stay in the room - but it's oversold because of all the people, the hotel manager ends up finding the last available room for them in a small cottage. Although not ideal, they don't have to sleep in a car. As they spend time together solving problems for both weddings, they go from angry to intrigued. There is something there, but neither will act on it. She is set to go back to London, and he is buying a camper to travel across Europe - so it will just be this weekend. Fast forward a few months and she never left, and he is back for his niece's christening. She has convinced a movie to shoot on location there and is helping organize when a few mix ups happen. They fall back in step with each other, but is one night ever really enough?

The Hotel Room Mix-Up is told in dual POV with one POV from Callum and the other from Ella. These two strangers are thrown together at the beginning of the book when their hotel is overbooked. The storyline last more than just than just that weekend which I didn’t expect going into this book. I loved how the book covered more time and gave us a glimpse into their lives.

Today is my stop on the Blog Tour for The Hotel Room Mix-Up by Kathy Jay which is published on 15 December.

I really enjoyed this one, and it was escapism at its finest. It was funny, sad, and full of romance - at each page turn there was new, old, and second-chance romance. If you like your books with a romance overload, then this is for you. The Hotel Room Mix-Up allowed me time to escape into Callum and Ella’s Cornish world for a few days when my life is just busy and my head is a scrambled mess of lists and too many things to do!

The Hotel Room Mix-Up is predominantly told from alternating viewpoints, that of Callum and Ella, both of whom meet in Cornwall whilst attending separate weddings (not their own, I hasten to add)! There are a lot of ‘will they, won’t they’ moments - and I mean a lot! My head was spinning, wondering whether they were going to get their happily ever after!

Grab this book if you enjoy a story containing whirlwind romances, beaches, the ocean, puppies, laughter and lots of fun!

✍🏼 Our marriage was really small. The only people present were my Mum and Dad, his Mum and stepdad and his daughter. We got married at 11, had lunch in the pub and were on a plane by 4! The best way to do it in my opinion!

When the similarities between Ella Swift and Callum Smith’s last names lead to a hotel room mix-up, they find themselves sharing a cramped cottage in Porthkara rather than the private luxury hotel suites they expected. Each in town for a different wedding – and carrying more baggage than just the suitcases in their hands – the reluctant roommates are forced to share a shelter from the storm surge that sweeps in off the Atlantic. But as the rain crashes down there’s a shift in more than just the atmosphere, and by the time the sun rises on a new day, Ella and Callum’s futures have already been forever changed.

𝗠𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄

The opening pages of this book played out like something you'd expect from Fawlty Towers...that's when I knew I was in for a read full of humour and fun.

I love Cornwall, so it was super easy to visualise the surroundings of Porthkara and the hotels interior.

I found the story to flow at a moderate pace, it was an enjoyable easy read. The characters were very marmite and I think I'm one of the few that found them both really irritating with their hesitance and I really wanted to knock their heads together to wake them both the hell up!

The Hotel Room Mix-Up is a heartwarming journey of love and finding it when you're least expecting it.

1. 𝐔𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 - It seems like love comes at you at the most unexpected times. For Callum and Ella, this is certainly the case.

2. 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲 - I have to admit that I do enjoy this trope! It may be a tad unrealistic for two strangers to opt to stay in a big ol’ house together when things go awry, but that’s why we call it fiction!

3. 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 - Can you feel it? Weddings and love and budding love and friend-love and familial-love…the story has love in abundance.

4. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝟏𝟖𝟎°𝐬 - Throughout Callum and Ella’s “courtship,” there were time I felt dizzy. It seemed to go from one extreme to another so quickly. But I guess when you’ve been crushed in the past, it is difficult to trust those feelings.

5. 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐲-𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 - I was trying to decide if this was a spoiler, but I think we all know that what readers want are happily-ever-afters. And this is one for the books! Just a perfect epilogue to close out these chapters.
