Happy birthday, Rimbaud ❤️‍🔥 This special edition of Arthur Rimbaud’s “A Season in Hell” (“Une saison en enfer”) is one of 1,000 copies signed by translator Paul Schmidt and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. As for what inspired the poem… it’s complicated…

Vampire lit, erotica, and bible fiction is a tricky trio of genres. Happy Birthday to Anne Rice, the woman who did all three with relish! This year is the 50th anniversary of her screaming success of a debut novel, Interview with the Vampire, but we’re also celebrating the steamy, anonymous trio that followed it. The Sleeping Beauty novels take the PG-13 themes of Rice’s Vampire Chronicles to a shocking extreme. Curious? Check our website for the trilogy, along with signed first editions of lots of Rice’s other works. But...we warn you...do so at your own risk 🫣

Some of our favorites from the 2026 Empire State Rare Book Fair! Ava likes this first edition of A Book of Common Prayer, which is inscribed to Steve, who she thinks is her birthday twin. Sunday likes this first edition of Rebecca, partially for Sleep No More reasons, partially because it’s just so cool. She also likes early Yankees history, hence these 1921 and 1923 World Series programs. It was a pleasure seeing/meeting some of you at Empire, here’s to the next book fair 👋

2026-I throwback receiving July and reflecting 💘 back in 2022, community was something that I promise to myself I was going to look out for!

Intentionally I started to show up. At the beginning I didn’t understand what exactly I was doing, and today I can see reflected what at the beginning was a community search ended up turning into friendships and close relationships.

Today, I also understand this go beyond an emotional response, and it’s an active and intentional practice. Asking for how others are, sending a nice message just because you think about them, and sometimes, even sending a meme.

Belonging.
Taking space.
Giving space.
Listening.
Organizing.
Collaborating.

Gratefulness as a daily practice is also an act of resistance. Keep those hopes alive❤️‍🔥

In case you didn’t listen to Big Mama before, she’s a star and your ears deserve to listen to this diva and icon!✨

🫰🏼 Cannot go to Philly and don’t visit to @phillymagicgardens 🫶🏻
