Was so moved by this song after seeing @dermotkennedy in Boston a couple weeks ago. Couldn’t get it out of my head and felt something needed to be created as a result. The goal wasn’t to take a thousand risks or push us to the brink, but to enjoy the movement and really breathe through it. What came out was so beautiful and I’m always so proud of these dancers!

I am much overdue on posting from this dance year, but as the regular season concluded this past weekend, I wanted the first thing you saw to be this very special piece. I have always wanted to make a true production, mixing styles and genres, and with lots of transitions on and off stage. I wanted it to feel like a professional show, and for us to entertain audiences with our energy from start to finish. In February of 2025, the vision for this piece started to become clear, and I pitched myself to the boss lady. To my delight, she said yes, and The Hollywood Wiz was born. Choreographed and set 47 weeks ago, this piece has been a big part of our world for the last year, and I’m so sad to see it go but so proud of what it is. I have many people to thank. Firstly, my lovely choreography assistant, Sarah Moore, who lended her moves as I was teaching while recovering from surgery. To the incredible INSPIRE Prop Team for your efforts and muscles all season long: you never complained once and you made all of this possible, and I am so grateful. To the Queen of INSPIRE, Calli Moore, thank you for believing in this and trusting me, I love you for that and so much more. To the most amazing team around: my lead, Allie, for never shying away from this role, making it your own, and having so much fun out there; you’re a star. My understudy, Macie, for being the rockstar you are and holding 2 versions of this piece together at a moment’s notice. And the ensemble: you made this so easy and enjoyable. You are total pros: we reblocked this no less than 8 times, and you never flinched. So many of you learned different sections, new partnering, shifted formations, and you just deliver every single time. Working with all of you will be a highlight of my year and I couldn’t be more proud. We finished this season with a Diamond adjudication 💎, and we sent the piece off in style as it opened our Iconic recitals this past weekend. I hope you enjoy. The Hollywood Wiz forever 💛🩶🖤❤️
