Boo! I’m back, after a year-long hiatus 👻

I started Follow the Raven at the end of 2023, finished the first draft by the end of 2024, and have been in revision hell since. I love working with other authors and doing swaps; I got lost working with other authors and doing swaps. There’s too many good ideas and I had a hard time sorting them all out. I also had a lot of general life upheaval. Job changes, getting married, losing some people to different paths, others to their time. But I think I’m finally finding the balance.

After a consult with my developmental editor, this finally feels like writing the first draft again. I feel clear headed about where revisions need to go, and can breathe easier giving myself permission to stop cramming this story into one book. I really should expect my stories to triple in size from inception by now 🥲

And there’s nothing like art to get you motivated, so peek at the amazing art I’ve had and the ones I just got 🥳

I can’t wait for you all to meet Leighda!!🥹

Fun Fact: She is BY FAR the youngest main character I’ve ever written, coming in right about nineteen years old…and as it stands right now that’s a title she’ll hold for a very long time😂

You know I love my 30-something characters, but don’t count her out. She is the perfect blend of Odette from The Swan Princess, Satine from Moulin Rouge, and Rapunzel, so if you loved any of those incredible leading ladies, you will definitely want to meet Leighda❤️‍🔥

🫀FULL CHARACTER ART REVEAL🫀I wanted to post this full piece in all its glory. @avalach_art truly nailed the eerie vibes of the Skratti’s forest. At its heart, I AM THE DEVOURING DARK, is about one ancient monster’s search for her humanity and battling the darkness inside.

I really love how her wolf companion, Fenrir, turned out in this as well. He is fiercely loyal and her only friend at the start of the book…and may or may not be a wolf god 👀🐺

🖤🖤🖤

If you are new here, hi, I’m Kim and I write atmospheric fantasy novels inspired by myth and nature with dark twists and tragic romance. My adult debut—I AM THE DEVOURING DARK—an atmospheric horror romantic fantasy, is coming out October 15th, 2026 with @michaeljbooks

🫀Preørder and request from Netgalley now!🫀

Waiting in the dark, she protects the village
But payment of a heart, her demands are savage
Devouring flesh, their screams ignite
Feeding myths that haunt the night

It’s my pleasure to introduce the Skratti, as portrayed but the immensely talented @avalach_art

Most of the character art I’ve commissioned focused on her more human side and the romantic elements, but this is the Skratti’s true form alongside her faithful companion, Fenrir.

𝓓𝓮𝓮𝓹 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓝𝓸𝓻𝓼𝓮 𝔀𝓸𝓸𝓭𝓼 𝓪 𝓶𝓸𝓷𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓱𝓾𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓻𝓼…

I AM THE DEVOURING DARK, an atmospheric horror fantasy romance where in a world where sacrifices are made to ensure safety, the Skratti—a shadow-born, heart-devouring monster—spares her human sacrifice, a man who awakens her buried memories. Together they forge an uneasy alliance to confront the enemy clan that enslaved her sister, forcing her to choose between the seductive power of vengeance and the possibility of love. ❤️‍🔥 Now available to preørder @michaeljbooks and request from Netgalley! All 🔗 ‘s in my biø 🫀

And just like that… my rep term with @everheartbookbox has officially come to an end 🥹✨

I genuinely cannot believe how fast this term has gone by. I hate that it’s over, but I’ve had the absolute best time being part of the team and sharing these gorgeous editions with all of you 🤍

I’m still blown away by the beauty and quality of every single book I received, and I feel so incredibly grateful to now have them sitting proudly on my shelves. From the stunning sprayed edges to the hardcovers and overlays, every package felt so special to open - I loved that time of the month when the parcel arrived! 📦

Thank you so much to the Everheart team for all the love, kindness, and beautiful books throughout my term. It’s been such a lovely experience and one I’ll always be grateful 💖

I hope we get to team up again in the future ✨
