It was such an incredible honor to direct “Mary Jane” by Amy Herzog, as one of three student directed shows at SMU. I am incredibly proud of my cast and crew and the production we built. And so eternally grateful for the support of all involved and even those not, who showed up outside of the rehearsal room. I love you all <3 here is to MUCH MORE DIRECTING in the future!!

Closing tonight: @outlouddallas and @smumeadows’ production of SEE ME written by me and directed by @jefferymoffitt. Jeffery and I co-devised this play with music by @mr.pixie_radio, and choreographed by @_jennaldavis_ .

The production stars the gifted ensemble (in alphabetical order) of: @sienabadilla, @nottheofficialeddie, @jacob_dom24, @desthekid22, @shiny.speck, @mediiii_iiiina, @avarobb, @lolina_torres, @timothy_wri, and @_rachelzook.

@jansonhaness was the Associate Director. @bnealdesigns did the brilliant lighting design, while @jp.e.y did the minimalist yet arresting scenic design, while @pixel.papii did the unforgettable projection design. Finally bringing it all together was @annafangirlz’s imaginative and future-pointed costume design.

The show was stage managed by Cris Stark and @atticuspiano.

I wanted to make sure that they were all listed here for a reason.

It is easy to believe an artist as singular. Theatre especially has a tendency toward looking at an artist (especially the playwright, director, and lead actor) as something special, uniquely gifted by Providence whose vision and artistry alone make something special.

It’s a great bit of sales and marketing, that sentiment.

But I never could buy into that notion.

How could I ever claim full credit for a production with so many people contributing their talent and gifts toward bringing the script I wrote to life?

Auteurism is antithetical to the community effort involved in making theatre come to life.

See Me was written by me.

But the names above worked together to ensure my words were made manifest. They ensured my script was seen.

I feel such immense gratitude to all of you for this gift that you all have given to me.

Everyone, learn these names. See them. This show is successful because of them. This show is special because of them.

I only wrote the script. Drafted the blueprint, as it were.

These magnificent and gifted artists executed on the dream of my script.

Thank you for this gift.

Let’s do this again sometime.

THE DROWNING GIRLS

A SMUST Production - April 2025

Drowning Girls!!🤍💙🛁 The very first show I saw at @theatretjc & my Directorial Debut. This experience means so much to me; & as I already have trouble liking anything a normal amount, that's probably an understatement! I learned a lot from putting this show together with this cast & crew. They gave me priceless memories & lessons that will inform how I approach all my artistic endeavors in the future. I am exceedingly thankful to every single individual in these pictures, & every support we had along the way! Y'all gave me probably too much permission, & lots of patience listening to me; but hey these pictures are proof it turned out pretty amazing!!! Thank you SMUST 🫶🏻 @smustagram_

Was I called crazy for insisting on footlights? Maybe. Does SMUST now have footlights forever & always at their disposal to create the best mood lighting? Yes!!! (mainly bc Brady found them online & convinced Dawn to purchase them🙏🏼)
