As we raise funds for our Dance Guild Challenge Grant (use the 🔗 in our bio to donate), learn how BTWHSPVA built the foundation for Dance Conservatory faculty member Avery Alexander's extraordinary career.

From @avery.moves , in her own words: Booker T. Washington HSPVA laid the groundwork for my career in dance and ignited my passion to pursue it professionally. Within these walls, I learned the meaning of true artistry, dedication, and work ethic, and discovered my love for movement. The course of my journey and every success along the way were directly shaped by the peers and the incredible teachers I crossed paths with here.

I would not be where I am today in the dance world without my experience at @btwhspva. It is an incredibly special place, which is exactly what inspired me to return and teach the next generation of dancers 10 years post-grad.

I can see myself in many of the students here: the student who is still finding their voice, the student who is bursting with excitement to get through the studio doors to dance, the the student with big dreams to make their mark on the world.

Being a mentor and teacher to this generation of @btwhspvadance students is an amazing honor because I know the privilege it is to hold space here as an alumni and as a teacher. My love and appreciation for this school will forever run deep!
