In 2025 I was tattooed 26 times.
I’m happy to explain that. First though, do not do this at home kids. I would never suggest this to a client, so why did I? ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
When 2025 began, I booked a pair of appointments in Portland for two days in January. It ended up that I was “accidently” tattooed 5 times, by 3 artists in 40 hours. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
My Portland visit took me to @thiefhands and the new Tiger Clue space to put finishing touches on my right sleeve. I sat for @spirit.carrier (+ @submissivehand ) for a Algiz rose branch and a non-dominant hand piece. And finally I got to meet with @la___tigresse____ guesting @fare_well_tattoopdx and picked up a flash piece and a tiny custom. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
After these January shenanigans, and considering the fact that in 2021 I sat 20 different times, I decided to just see if I could surpass my record for number of tattoos in a year. It was more a curiosity at first. It wasn’t until October when I saw that I could easily beat my record, that my aim became 25 tattoos in 2025. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
In April, I picked up a matching tattoo with studio-mate Christian from the lovely @moncherietattoos ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Summertime brought @avery.otherworld through for a trade, and I had to trade with @timelesstruth_tattoo this fall before he left us for the adventure life. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Much of the rest of the year was spent trading with studio mates and friends, as well as tattooing myself. @jess.beyond.the.willow definitely stabbed me the most. I probably did the second most work on myself, followed by @birdhuggers work on my hips.

@jeslebon rounded out the year with a folky mandala helping me make sure I was going to reach my end goal. Jes, you’re turn! ⁣⁣⁣⁣

And I closed the year on @jess.beyond.the.willow table (first photo) in my 26th session, finishing her giant pacific octopus. A perfect endcap to this tattoo heavy year.⁣⁣⁣⁣

Ok, yup that’s a lot. It’s time to rest a bit, but what an amazing year. Thank you to everyone who shared time and art with me. On me.

Some folks have asked if this is masochism or self-harm. I assure you, it is only love. It is love for self and my path & my work. It’s Devotion, & I am made stronger by it.

4 years, 8 sessions (one not pictured, filler session I couldn’t find a picture for). First leg sleeve is capped off. Instagram fed me an ad for tattoos constantly in 2021, and fortunately one day I had @brothersuntattoo pop up on my feed! I saw his style and said “oh shit, that’s what I’ve been looking for. I don’t know what you’d call it, but I love it”.

I’m so stoked on the way this entire sleeve has come together, and look forward to watching his style continue to evolve and push unique boundaries. It’s incredible how this art has also brought a great person into my life, that I’m happy to call a friend and my tattoo artist. Art is so cool man!

Yours is so unique and I’m proud to be able to wear it @brothersuntattoo !!

Now… onto the butt and back piece 👀😅🫡
