I want to again just say thanks to the whole team that made “Print” happen and all the attendees. It still blows my mind that we did what we did. I also want to give a shout out to @arlenelaboyphoto for taking all these images. It’s so cool to see this project documented well and see so many smiling and curious faces. It will be up until the new year at “Discover Downtown”. .

Also, tomorrow at @theheavywp
from 5-10pm I’m going to be making “Polaroid Portraits” on my 1960s land camera using “Peel A Part” film. It’s a bit of a different medium as I’m not making photos digitally. However, the idea is the same; sit for a portrait and leave with a physical image! You can see more info in my stories. .

The “Print” team ❤️ @iamdavidlawrence killed it this weekend and cranked out over 500 portraits for the people of Orlando. Proud of you my friend!

“Most of all... we connected. ‘Immerse’ is all about ‘meaningful shared experiences.’ That’s what we walk away from this weekend with. Connection. That thing we all need so much in our lives. To be seen. To be heard. To be known. What an incredible time we shared.” - @immersefest .

There’s something that feels important about this image. Either my friend Kathleen or Gabe suggested picking me up. I felt funny and originally said no, but alas gave in. So much of life just feels like just being carried by others. So I guess this is a perfect photo. A perfect summation of the last two days. Walking with and being carried by my friends. .

We made a wall of over 500 portraits. Over 500 connections. I asked people to write notes about their day on each photo. A couple said, “No one knows, but there’s 3 of us in this photo.” Another girl was in line crying. I kept seeing her and when she finally got to take her portrait she kept saying, “I’m not normally like this. I’m sorry. I just wanted a photo of myself.” I told her it was okay and that it was okay she was crying and the photo would be a real picture of where she was that day and that was okay. We took the photo, tears rolling down her face in the image. We embraced and she went on her way. I don’t know exactly what was happening that day, but I know it was difficult. .

I’m thankful for that moment and all these shared experiences. Some friends of mine drove from Lakeland after a crappy day and their kid nearly getting a concussion the day before. Another group of friends drove from Jacksonville to visit. This life is full of ups and downs, but I’m here for it and I’m thankful. Thanks to everyone who came from near and far- waited in line(sometimes cut the line 😂😂) or simply just came by and looked at photos and participated in “Immerse”. You are loved and I’m thankful for you. This life is important. You are important and I hope the past couple days, whether you attended in person or are just watching online that you are reminded of that. You matter and are made for connection. Thank you.

Tonight from 5-11pm is the second night of my “Print” installation and @immersefest! Come sit for a portrait, leave with a print, and also view a gallery of 100’s of other members of our Orlando community. “Print” is held at 201 S. Orange Ave in the downtown visitors center. I made the goal of creating a wall of portraits of 500 faces and we are about half way there!!

11 months ago I set up a studio at @creativecityproject’s “Immerse.” Me and a team of friends photographed over 300 people, making prints of each portrait and installing it on a wall for festival goers to see. We made sure to print out two copies of each portrait so that guests could leave with a personal copy as well. Part of the installation was me also displaying about 30 portraits I took of close friends and family before the event. It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever done. I met so many people, realized what I was capable of and have seen so many doors open because of this project.
Next month we will be doing it again. October 18th and 19th. Only it will be better. Mark your calendars and see you there. There will be 1000 artists all across downtown doing performances and interactive installations as well. Thanks to everyone that’s followed along on this journey. You are loved and I’m more thankful than you know. .

What a day it has been for the Goff Doc Squad! We are happy to announce that we have reached our fundraising goal! Thank you to all that gave independently or donated to our indiegogo campaign.
