solo debut🤍🥹

Over a year ago, I asked Julia to choreograph a solo for me, just for fun. Little did we know what it would become. This past year has had so many ups and downs, but dance will forever be my greatest passion and my first love. Being able to tell my story and my journey through movement that feels like home to me is something I will always be grateful for. I could not have done any of it without so much love and support, but most importantly, without Julia. Thank you, forever, for creating this piece for me and trusting me with your movement. I love you endlessly. I can’t wait to share it with all of you, but for now, here’s a little sneak peek. 😌

Yesterday at the end of “Matilda” (closing show) just before our cast party, the kids asked for the audiences attention so they could give every single one of my staff flowers. And then they played, “I Can Do That” from A Chorus Line…for me. It was my recording. It was part of their thank you! Cue the tears!! I started to acknowledge my cast and my team, and I shared how this has been a very difficult time for me, (with the loss of my dad), but I made it very clear (as I started to break down) that these kids and directing this show lifted me up more than they could ever know. It has been an incredibly difficult time, but my family, my extended family at @justintimebway and all of these beautiful kids and their families got me through. As I sit alone at the 14th st Y theatre about to leave, I am emotional again, but I think it’s more happy tears. An enormous relief. I did it! I got through it! And I think I did a pretty damn good job along the way. Congratulations to all of our brilliant actors on an incredible run of “Matilda Junior,” and my amazing team for literally helping @melissaswender and I make magic and incredible memories. Here’s to many more! #icandothatnyc #matilda #summershow #director #musicaltheatre

What an absolute treat to have Broadway performer @samanthasturm join us during rehearsal for Matilda! Samantha was in the original production of “Matilda” on Broadway, where she played the “acrobat” and understudied “Miss Honey.” She is also currently in “Chicago” and worked with Jeff on Broadway in” Nice work If You can get it.” Sam shared so many great stories from her time with Matilda, and Chicago. And the kids could not wait to perform “Revolting children” for her which she absolutely loved. Thank you so much for joining us Sam. What a treat! #icandothatnyc #samanthasturm #broadway #chicago #matilda
