Waiting for my sons to meet me at Kings Cross so we can make our way to Tottenham Stadium. This is a big day for us. I was born in Washington DC and watched every @commanders game….on TV. My mom would wear black for a week if we lost. We ate Sunday dinner with my Commanders(yes it was the Redskins) beach towel as the table cloth. My Washington football helmet as the center piece surrounded by gold and maroon candles. Washington football was religion in our family. We worshiped Joe Thiesman, Art Monk, Darryl Green. Mark Mosley, Doug Williams, Butz, Manley, and especially John Riggins. I wore a Charlie Taylor jersey as a kid. But we couldn’t get tickets for home games as they were gold dust as they were one of the most winningest teams of the 80s. The Joe Gibbs years! My folks took me to see the @capitals , Bullets(@washwizards) and @orioles. Blue collar teams. Affordable tickets that were only 5 to 10 bucks. Heck, I would play hookie from high school to see the @orioles play at Memorial stadium in the mid 80s. And now, I get to watch my team play in London my two of my sons. And their cousin, @averyrlee will be on the sidelines cheering the team on with the rest of the @commandforce. Years later Joe Gibbs and his family came into our diner in Vail, Colorado for breakfast. I made him a smoothie on the house. His wife commented, “you are the first person to offer my husband a non alcoholic drink. Thank you.” There’s a claim. Let’s Go Commanders!
