Sustainability Finalist 🎉

At Raven Place, sustainability isn’t a single initiative. It’s a network of relationships between land, food, people, businesses & community.

🌱 Closing the Loop

* All takeaway containers are home compostable by small business @compostablealt
* Kitchen scraps fermented, 20 litres donated weekly to @limpinwoodlayers Supports chicken gut health, egg production.
* Eggshells returned to our garden as natural slug deterrent.
* Limpinwood Layers chicken manure comes back to the us to build healthy compost & soil.
* Owl boxes to increase biodiversity & organic pest control installed by @wildbnb_wildlife_habitat in conjunction w @tweedshirecouncil

What might otherwise be considered waste becomes a resource.

🌾 Reducing Food Waste

* Seasonal abundance is transformed into fermented products, pickles, condiments and preserves.
* Produce utilised beyond its harvest window, extending shelf life & reducing waste.
* Traditional food preservation techniques maximise the value of everything we grow.

♻️ Upcycling Resources

* Cooking tallow is repurposed into handcrafted artisanal soap, face cleansers and shampoo bars by @awanatural_soap

🤝 Supporting Local Enterprise

* Actively collaborate with local businesses including local brewers @cbbc.beer , organic growers and producers.
* Provide a platform for local artists,  @toki_ko.kollective @ashandelm.au , potters @mattersoftheheart_creative @green_tumbs_ceramics , @taniaahimsa makers, crafters & volunteers
* Our approach keeps value circulating within the local economy.

🏡 Building Community Resilience

* Raven Place has evolved into a gathering place for the Clothiers Creek community.
* We bring together volunteers, growers, learners, visitors and neighbours.
* We are also a registered emergency centre, strengthening local resilience during times of need.

🌏 Small Footprint, Big Impact

Our model is intentionally small-scale and community focused. By growing food, reducing waste, regenerating soil, supporting local businesses and creating opportunities for connection, we demonstrate how hospitality, agriculture and community can work together as one system.
