I'm 39 years old and I'm not ashamed to admit that:

❤️ I didn't really start regularly reading for fun until one year ago.
🧡 I've recently learned how to speak up for myself in various situations.
💛 Last year, I was finally diagnosed with ADHD and have started medication that changed my life.
💚 It took a long time to feel like I understand my mind and body. I'm still learning each day.
🩵 I've been a travel influencer for years ( @awanderlustforlife ) and have fallen a bit out of love with it. But, I still enjoy traveling and helping others so I'm trying to find the best way to do that and honor what's best for me.
💙 I took a big step back from working (for myself) due to burnout and I'm now learning how to love it again.
💜 I've had therapy for various reasons and I think it's one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
🩷 I'm a recovering people-pleaser.

I’ve been back in Amsterdam now for 5 days and it’s been so wonderful to be home. I’ve gotten to see my girls and I’ve gotten a new bike which has been exciting and of course enjoyed my favorite restaurants ✨ Although the weather has been a little strange for July, I’m grateful to see a little bit of sun 🌳🌞

I started my digital nomad blog, Duraca Travels, in 2022. (Duraca is Puerto Rican for tough cookie, and it was my nickname growing up).

I had quit my top-three global ad agency job in 2019 to start my own business, @duraca.strategic, and become a digital nomad. As I started sharing about my digital nomad life, I was getting a lot of questions about being a digital nomad.

Crazy/awesome that just two years later, I’m speaking about how brands can captivate digital nomad creators at the premiere conference for travel bloggers @tbexevents and being invited to FAM & press trips (a FAM trip is like a press trip for bloggers).

Here’s our amazing FAM trip in green Basque Country. Basque is the oldest language in Europe, and Basque Country is an autonomous region in Spain, with its own unique culture. I’ve been dreaming of coming here ever since I studied abroad in Madrid in 2009!

I loved how passionate people were here about fresh food and ingredients, the sense of independence, and the gorgeous landscapes.

Some trip highlights-

I love my girls 🫶🏻 Making friends abroad can be difficult and I’m often asked how I have met my friends and to be completely honest.. I have met ALL of my friends through social media. There are so many groups and meet ups to join, you just have to put yourself out there :)

Loved trying this artisanal chocolate and meeting a third generation chocolatier!

This was our first activity on Day 1 of our post- Travel Blog Exchange conference FAM trip — like a press trip for bloggers — exploring Basque Country in northern Spain.

There’s great respect for Amalur — the Basque version of Pachamama aka Mother Earth, and for ingredients.

What scares me is that chocolate is becoming more expensive as cacao is becoming scarcer. Global warming & fungus threaten crops. We were told supply was 50% of what it was last year, and a ton went from $2K to $10K!

I’m a chocolate lover, so this is truly scary stuff.

This chocolate was delicious, and I tried ruby chocolate for the first time!

The museum had an impressive collection of— including tea cups made for men with mustaches!

What better way to make new friends than to explore a city together? ♥ I joined the @iamsterdam / @uitinams Creator Meetup last weekend and we explored the Houthavens neighbourhood with an architecture walk, some drinks and bites and a visit to @fabriquedeslumieres in the Westerpark. Having lived abroad for so long, I really need to discover my hometown more (and make some new friends). Both were a success 😍👍 Can't wait for the next event! What is your favourite area in Amsterdam that I should check out next? ✅📸
