Preseason barrier breakers once again this weekend!
1/3 Junior Alexander Adebiyi (RMSC) broke 2:00 in the 200 IM and went 5 for 5 best times! Sophomore Selim Ericson (RMSC) also broke the 2 minute barrier in the 200 IM with a 1:57!
Freshman Carson Underwood (Bayside Aquatics), in his first ever club meet, broke through infinity basically and swam a 25 in his first 50 free and a 59 in his first 100 free. #

2/3 Junior Richie Dutchman (RMSC) dropped 10 seconds in the 100 fly and now has 👀 on 1:10. Adebs broke the 55 barrier in 100 fly and is now knocking on 54’s door. Abraham Watts ‘26 had to get a mention for breaking 1:50 in the 200 free with a 1:47 from a 1:59!! Sophomore Tripp TNT Thomas broke 27 in the 50 back.

3/3 The final heat of the 100 breast at the RMSC meet featured 4 Stags in the middle of the pool: Selim, Jonathan (dude swam a 56 in October), senior Alexander Jungbluth and TNT Thomas. 🦌🏊‍♂️🏊🏽‍♂️👀

It’s the Transfer Edition of Time Drop Tuesday. Abraham Watts came to DeMatha when his school announced it was shutting down prior to his senior year. He rededicated himself to his swimming because he wanted to be a contributing factor on our team his senior season. In doing so, he dropped significant time in all of his key events and was a big factor in our success this season.

Josef Shotwell’s path to DeMatha was from home school and not until second semester of his junior year. In TWO WEEKS, he went from a 23 to a 21 in the 50 free. He said it had everything to do with the support and energy of his teammates in a very competitive environment. He is as comfortable in the pool as he is on a boat (rowing), playing guitar, or talking philosophy. #reinassanceMan

MCSL All Stars: No pics of Abraham Watts ‘26 because I didn’t even see him on deck and he apparently didn’t try to look for his former high school coach because I’m not THAT difficult to find. I’m right there. Watching and rooting for you guys. But it was nice to see him actually swim the 100 free! It was his first ever MCSL All Star meet and his last summer swim. Congrats on finishing strong Abraham!

Alexander Adebiyi finished 10th in the race but what you can’t see is that 8 of the 9 swimmers ahead of him are 18. Gone. That only leaves one man to beat next year..:
… looking at you @colton.p.m 👀 🎯.
On second thought, I don’t want to poke the bear and make it more difficult for Alex to sneak up on you next year. So don’t scroll WAY down the Meet Mobile results to look for next year’s comp. You’ve got 2027 in the bag. (Fixed it for you @adebs.23 😉😉)

DeMatha’s Swimming and Diving team finished 4th among over 40 teams at the 2026 National Catholic Swimming and Diving Championships in Baltimore over the weekend.
DeMatha was led by Top 8 finishers Jack Hamilton (2), Alex Jungbluth (2), Selim Ericson(2), Seamus Rooney, and Jonathan Lombardo. For the second straight year, Alexander Jungbluth was the national champion in an individual event, this time in the 200 IM.

Senior Jack Hamilton made the most of this year’s meet (he missed last year due to injury), finishing 2nd behind Alex in the IM and 4th in the 100 breaststroke. In addition, he had a personal best time in 2 of his 3 swims and a DeMatha best time in the other, the 100 breast, becoming only the third DeMatha swimmer in history to break 57 in the event. 🦌🏊🏽‍♂️🏊‍♂️👀

DeMatha Swimming (there was no diving held for this meet) put in a dominate performance at the SwimRVA aquatic center in Richmond on Friday night (1/9/26).

The Stags won all three relays (and had the top 3 times overall in the free relays), finished 1-2-3 in the 200 free, 50 free, 100 fly, and 100 free, and went 1-2 in the 100 breast.

The meet is scored as separate dual meets so DeMatha picked up nine more wins in one night.

🦌BB Big shoutout to senior Abraham Watts for his Barrier Breaking 21 in the 50 free (relay split) #NoGoingBack. 🥇 He also led the 1-2-3 🧹 in the 100 free.

🥇🥇 Shoutout: sophomore Levi Smith for his second consecutive big meet win in the 100 breaststroke. He also won the 200 free with a 5-second drop!

🥇🥇 Senior Seamus Rooney was also a double-event winner. He led the 1-2-3 🧹 in the 50 free and won the 100 back.

BB 🥇Shoutout to the B 400 free relay (Grayson Hersey, Abraham Watts, Jonathan Lombardo, Alexander Adebiyi). I am 99% certain that they are the first DeMatha B relay to break 3:20 in the event.

🥤🥤 Shoutout to senior Ari Jenkins. This is the second consecutive bus trip where he did not spill a milkshake on the bus.

💧Big Drops
Levi Smith: 200 free, -5.21
Christopher Nedd: 200 free, -2.19
Alex Adebiyi: 200 IM -5.79
Brendan Ford: 50 free -2.11
Jack Hamilton: 100 fly -3.57
Dakotah Boykin: 100 fly -1.19
and the biggest dropper goes to…
Douglas Ray: 100 breast -5.87!!!

Barrier Breakers
Abraham broke 22 in 50 free
Christoper Nedd broke 1:48 in the 200 free
Kazuki Reeves broke 5:00 in the 500 (for us)

Final Shoutout to senior Jordan Vaughn who could not make the trip due to injury. Sending healing karma your way. #SeeYouNextWeek

#BarrierBreaker It was a busy day smashing barriers for Grayson Hersey ‘26. He specifically requested “100 boom emojis” if he broke 50.00 in the 100 free. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t count them to hold me to that number because those things are a challenge to move around!
It definitely took me longer to create those than it took him to swim that 100 free AND to smash through 1:00 in the 100 fly combined. Congrats Gray! 💥
💥 Senior Abraham Watts crushed his meet (dropping time in 7 of 7 events) and smashing the 1:00 barrier in the 100 back, dropping 6 seconds! 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Question for Abraham (everyone else can just ignore this): what happened on the second 50 of the 100 fly?! Your split was just a teeny bit off. 😙🤔🤨
