One of the most recognisable artworks ever created, reimagined as only a LEGO minifigure could be.

I had a lot of fun creating my own tribute to Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe. Bright colours, bold contrasts, and a little minifigure twist.

I’d love to know… if this was hanging on your wall, which panel would you be looking at first?

Thank you to @shrew.studio for this brilliant idea!

Warhol found the inevitability and reality of death so traumatic that it had to be mediated through images of beauty. The creation and possession of beauty (as witness Warhol’s compulsive shopping and collecting) is a staving off of death, a self-preservation of the ego instincts, a deferral of the body’s eventual deterioration, and a stay against psychic fragmentation. It is as if the fear of death is so overwhelming that Warhol does nothing but obsessively look for it. He is motivated to create an immortal image of beauty precisely because his body is mortal. As Ernest Becker wrote:

culture was built upon repression – not because man was a seeker only of sexuality, of pleasure, of life and expansiveness, as Freud thought, but because man was also primarily an avoider of death. Consciousness of death is the primary repression, not sexuality.

The work of art is a permanent symbol that allows Warhol to escape from the elusive and transient physical world. Beauty, above all, is a way out of time.

The myth of the cowboy meets the myth of fame.

In 1986, Andy Warhol turned Clint Eastwood into pop art — transforming the lone hero of the West into a reflection of America’s obsession with icons.

His gaze, once made for the desert, became a mirror of power, solitude, and style.

Warhol didn’t just paint faces — he exposed the machinery of fame.

⚡️ Art. Ego. Myth.

Andy Warhol - Life King versione pop art
Peso opera: 10 Kg – Peso piedistallo: 13 Kg.
👉 Unico esemplare disponibile.
