Part two of three: the foundation. We start with an indigenous Filipino weave and treat it as a beginning, not a relic, built on with a Los Angeles surfboard drawn in the flowers of Manila, leather strips woven into the weave, embroidery patched over the surface, lace, beadwork, and layouts laid out after sapin-sapin, the layered rice cake. Los Angeles meeting Manila, on one textile.

Next month is #LGBTQHistoryMonth. We’re thrilled to be joining our friends at One Institute (@oneinstitutela) for #Circa2026, the country’s first and only queer history festival. From October 1-31, celebrate the trailblazing history and culture of queer and trans folks with over 40 programs happening at venues all across Los Angeles.

Mark your calendars for our program:
🖍️Potent Histories: Cultivating Queer Cannabis Narratives in the Digital-Analog Archive
🗓 Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, 7p.m.-8:30p.m. (Open later for those that want more time for their projects)
📍Groundfloor Echo Park

Join Cannabis Club for an interactive workshop exploring the intersection of LGBTQ+ identity, cannabis culture, and the art of the archive both digital and analog.

🎟 Tickets available now! Be one of the first to grab your tickets at: CircaFestival.org.
