12 Years ago, several of my neurodivergent students I worked with as a school-based Occupational Therapist shared that they were rejected and misunderstood at studios and community programs. This led me to create a FREE after-school Dance Therapy program.

Inspired by their @cultureshockla dance educators, the dancers of this program named themselves AWESOME SHOCK LA 💫✨

Big Thanks to fam @mpact_lor , @ginonono , @trandreww_ , @sorahyang , @kneeenur , @manthadoza , Angelia, @_danga_dang , @djsosojeff , @djsingle10 , @jackson.inabox and of course @me_alli & our CSLA fam for making our decade of service possible for all these generations of beautiful dancers.

All of this combined with dreaming, brainstorming, and planning with Yoda brother @AndyHoster led to the launch in 2025 of @AwesomeShockLA Dance Troupe - our newest Empowerment program of @CultureShockLA.

It has been one of the greatest honors, blessings, joys of my entire dance career to serve and connect with these first two seasons of ASLA dancers and their loving families alongside side our incredible Support Squad staff:

@alexis_0202
@kimberlygben
@jinnnl
@dombalino
@ginonono
@karaminaa
@iniadavid_
@iamrachelq
@itsjessicamateo

Big Shout Out also to our ASLA Dance Captains MARC @8290.marc and BILLY @billy897376 . You both inspire me and I’m so proud of the amazing role models and leaders you both are. 🙌🏾🫶🏾💯✨

Special Thanks to my amazing Hubby @dustinripkens for supporting me and this program consistently for the past few years 💛

Thank you @elementsdancespace for allowing us to bloom in your home.

Thank You @andyhoster for inspiring and building this with me and for taking our dream forward with the next amazing leadership.

The future of ASLA is so bright 💛⚡️✨

As I now focus my attention to becoming a new Dad, my heart will always be with you all and you will definitely still see me around as a guest choreographer and your biggest fan!

I’m so grateful my final leadership position for our Shock LA fam was as your Co-Director.

Love you all so much! Mr. Arnel signing off 🫶🏾✨✨💌

Culture Shock Los Angeles presents “Interwoven”

Interwoven brings together a community of artists as co-creators, not separate acts. Each section of the show explores a different facet of collaboration, celebrating how individual voices together, can unite to create something more powerful.
