Whilton round 6 … Downs, Ups and Downs…

Sat Practice was wet and I was loving life, in the final practice I was forth fastest, we then changed to a new set of wets for quali that we either didn’t scrub in quickly enough or the rubber was too old … but I couldn’t get any grip. Which I am pretty sure led to some sniggers which is disappointing.

Quali - 27th overall which was possibly my most disappointing quali ever the conditions suited me, set up was fine… just tyres..

Heat 1 - 27th -> DNF. 5 laps in and made a mistake and ended up backwards in the tyres.

Heat 2 - 27th-> 21st - the extra weight I am carrying really makes a difference. But still a battling effort.

Final - 25th - > 20th - was pleased with 20th despite being turned in on at the boot and loaded up onto the grass.

There were a number of really disappointing elements of the weekend - but onwards and upwards..

Big thanks to my mum for changing her plans and coming to help my dad and me on sat, as my dad was on work calls for a lot of the day ❤️

Whilton round 5

Did the Friday Practice and things were looking bad, we were 3/4 tenths off where we were last month. It all became apparent when i got on the scales and was weighing in at 167, 5KG over..

Sat Practice was much of the same and Quali couldn’t have gone much worst

Quali - 25th overall

Heat 1 - 25th -> 21st (got a 5 second Penalty for dropped nose)

Heat 2 - 25th-> 20th

Final - 22nd - > 26th - was running in 19th when I was removed from the track and as I was bouncing across the grass I picked up another drop nose penalty.

Very easy to be disappointed but I need to remember the calibre of the field, the tightness of the times, literally every 100th of a second counts. every session I am learning. I am still loving it 👍 I have work to do to shed my extra kgs from Italy. 💪🏻💪🏻

One massive positive is we met @paul.koracevic for the first time and he got these amazing shots, glad he is joining our team going forward 👍

🏁 WMKC Round 5 | Back to Whilton Mill! 💚

Round 5 of the Whilton Mill Kart Club Championship is just around the corner, and we’re ready to get back on track with the GMS Kart Team.

Whilton always produces some of the closest racing of the season, and with another strong Senior Rotax grid expected, it’s all to play for.

Time to keep pushing, keep learning and keep fighting for every position. 💪🏁

Back to Buckmore for a blast round one of my favourite tracks.

Expectations were very low - I missed the practice last month and the Saturday practice as I didn’t get back from my school residential in the Dolomites until 9am Sat morning after a 27 hour journey. I had also agreed with my dad to keep costs down I would run a set of tyres we had used on a practice day at whilton back in March. This may have been our biggest mistake..

My 5 minute practice put a big smile on my face, first time there in a senior, in fact first time in a couple of years.

Mixed grids so no Quali

Heat 1 - 17th -> 16th
My fuel cap was loose (blaming my mechanic) so stopped to get help from a kind marshal and then had a massive gap to make up. Caught the pack and made 16th.

Heat 2 - 13th-> 12th
2 attempts as first was red flagged. Then in the restart I went for a move, messed it up and ended up at the back and had to come back through

Final - 10th - > 8th

I was about 2 or 3 tenths off the pace that I wanted to be at, I am putting it down to tyres and lack of practice. Still good fun on a track I love ❤️

The Champions Kart Club Summer Cup marks the first race meeting at Buckmore Park under the new management team following the end of the Medway Valley Kart Club era.

Buckmore has always been my home track, so it’s great to be racing here again 💙🏁

It won’t be easy though… we’ll miss Saturday practice and head into race day on old tyres, so we’ll definitely have it all to do against a stacked field.

🔥 3 races with random grids + a final… what could go wrong?

Whilton round 3 - Solid Round in the Sun

Sat went well and I had good pace, but wasn’t able to get a tow - but was a bit special as even though my dad was keeping an eye, I had my mum on the spanner’s thanks for coming up to help ❤️

Quali - 13th in group

Heat 1 was a “Rugged”, i got a 5 second penalty .
Heat 1 - 17th -> 19th

Heat 2 was much better, tried some different hubs and this made me feel quick and racy, managed to avoid a few incidents in front of me
Heat 2 - 17th-> 10th

A Final - 21st - > 14th
Had a good final, I had a bit of a rough start but once it settled down was making up places nearly every lap.

Pleased to make 3 A finals in a row, every session I am learning. Loving it 👍

Whilton round 2 - Ultimate Highs and Lows

Not had much time in the kart recently we did the Friday practice with the mighty @lewie.weaver.racing on the spanner’s and helping me.

Sat went well and I had good pace, getting my best ever dry Quali

Quali - 8th in group

Heat 1 went well had good pace and had my best ever result at whilton.
Heat 1 - 11th -> 6th

Heat 2 was not my Heat, dropped some places at the start and was starting to fight back from 15th when an ambitious lunge knocked me wide at the boot with 3 laps to go and I lost 6 places, then a moron turned in on me and left me no room at all and broke my kart so didn’t finish the race even though it was nearly the last lap.
Heat 2 - 11th -> DNF

Fortunately my 6th got me enough points to make the A final. Unfortunately i was feeling very under the weather and was really struggling before I got in the kart.

A Final - 30th -> 23rd, considering i nearly threw up jn my helmet and nearly passed out when my dad helped me out the kart i will take that. I proved that i can run in the top 10, i’m learning and maturing as a driver.. loving being amongst such awesome talent.
