Words cannot describe how much running track has made me the person I am today. I remember the first time in middle school thinking that I would be a short sprinter and being told that wasn’t going to happen 😂. I got introduced to the 400 my first ever track meet and felt a pain I had never felt before. And from then on I fell in love with running. If you told middle school me that I would be running in college I wouldn’t have believed you at all and I can still hardly believe it to this day.

Now if you told me that the last 2 years of my running career I would be running the 800 I would’ve laughed. I never in a million years thought I would be doing something this crazy. Throughout my college years I have faced a lot of highs and lows and I would have thought running the 800 would be a very low. But it turns out to be a high in my life. I would never have thought that I would have competed at nationals in the 800 and 4x800. Especially since I came into college as a 400/200 type of runner. But this is one of many lessons I’ve learned from running track. Running track has taught me to try new things even if you are scared or just don’t want to do it. In doing so it could lead you into something that you might actually enjoy or fall in love with. Transitioning from being a sprinter to a mid distance runner was no easy task but we got the job done. Didn’t end the season like I wanted to but I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished this outdoor season. A week before nationals I had gotten slightly hurt and honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to race. But by the time we to nationals and did pre meet a boost of confidence inspired me to go leave everything on the track one last time. We may have fallen short of our goals this year but I know next year they will go kill it.

I have met some of the most amazing people from running who some I can proudly call family and I am forever grateful for them and what they have taught me over the years. Without my family, friends, coaches, and teammates support I would not be the runner I am today. They have shown me how blessed I have been throughout my life and couldn’t have asked for better people.
