When strategic conversations open doors, communities feel the impact 🇳🇬🤝🇨🇳

Recently, the Founder/Executive Director of Base Airtertainment joined the CEO, Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation @objfoundation for a strategic engagement with the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, H.E. Yan Yuqing 🇨🇳 🇳🇬

An important engagement. A promising opportunity. We may not be able to say much just yet… but something exciting is brewing for the NAF Base community🤞👀

Special appreciation to the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation for the opportunity to connect, engage and explore possibilities for greater community impact ❤️

Earlier today, we paid a courtesy visit to Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre Commandant, Air Vice Marshal N.I. Ilo, to express our sincere appreciation for his longstanding support, encouragement, and belief in the vision of Base Airtertainment and its impactful youth-focused initiatives.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss strategic areas of collaboration and sponsorship geared towards advancing youth development within military communities, with key focus on sports development and the forthcoming Base Youths Sustainable Enterprise & Leadership Programme (BYSELP).

As a token of our gratitude, we were honored to present the Commandant with a plaque of appreciation and other souvenirs in recognition of his continuous commitment to empowering and uplifting barrack youths.

We remain committed to building meaningful partnerships that create opportunities, inspire leadership, and drive sustainable impact for the next generation.

Exactly 25yrs today, Group Captain Samuel Ethnan was called to glory but the reflection of his impact is still evident in Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja till date🕊️

Although late Group Captain Sam Ethnan was Commander, NAF Base Ikeja for only 10 months, he is the only distinguished officer that a Nigerian Air Force base is named after, a true hero. Here are some the exceptional things he did during his short period👇🏼
- Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja won the neatest base in Africa during his tenure
- He switched occupants of dirty houses/blocks with the clean ones to enforce neatness. That why they called him “Commander pack-out”
- Introduced flower planting to beautify the base
- He established the Oputa Committee to resolve family disputes
- Ensured that there are round-abouts close to the Base and police station along Murtala Muhammed Airports road
- Gave gifts to new born babies of airmen

Group Captain Sam Ethnan stood for honor, discipline and unwavering service. As you can see, his impact continues to echo through the lives he touched, the community he served and the nation he helped defend 💪

As part of our Variety Night today, there will be a heartfelt Open Mic Session in memory of late Group Captain Sam Ethnan; a space for tributes, soulful songs, powerful poetry/spoken word, energetic rap presentations, etc 🕯️🤩

Join us as we celebrate a life of service and a legacy of courage. 25yrs may have passed but the memory of a hero never fades 💯

Share your favorite location, major changes you have noticed in the base and a story about Sam Ethnan below👇🏼

“We are all gathered in this church, some of us with different faith and some of us with different background yet here we are shoulder to shoulder, heart to heart because motherhood does not have a religion”.
“Mother’s love speaks every language and crosses every boundaries”.
“The strength of this base is not only on the officers alone, it is in you the woman who holds the family strong”.

These were some notable inspiring words from the speech of the wife of the Base Commander, Mrs Imam who was a Special Guest at the today’s Mothers’ Day celebration thanksgiving service in NAF Protestant Church, Ikeja 💗🤰🏼

Despite being Muslims, the Base Commander and his wife took time to personally attend and celebrate with the community, demonstrating a powerful and uncommon example of unity, mutual respect, and commitment to the peace and progress of the Base. Their presence truly reflects the spirit of togetherness and harmony that continues to strengthen our community beyond religious or tribal differences 🤝

Happy mothers’ day! 👩
