@aysee.sunaa Nomadism 2.0 - back to the roots of civilization September 2020, Şanlıurfa-Siverek, Turkey  The provinces of Diyarbakir, Sanliurfa and Mardin Turkey's, in southeast Turkey have been home to many small and large-scale states since the dawn of history, as their plentiful natural resources have attracted the interest of people of different ethnicities, religions and cultures for thousands of years. Also known as the ‘Golden Trio’/’Golden Triangle’ of Upper Mesopotamia, the three Turkish provinces played a key role in human history, as they hosted many of humankind’s earliest settlements, the first agricultural activities and the establishment of the earliest villages. Through the surface of these volcanic mountains, groups of people have been living a nomadic life for centuries, producing milk and dairy products where they are staying temporarily. The nomads in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, still today, continue their hard journey where pasture lands are grazed by their domestic livestock. Despite the dangerous, difficult and cyclic movements taking days, the nomads, who have continued their production traditionally for years, took their places in the volcanic Karacadağ, which has a peak height of 1957 meters, within the borders of the Golden Trio of the Diyarbakır, Mardin and Şanlıurfa provinces.  Within these groups, ancient traditions run the everyday life, where men are in charge of animal care, and women and children take the household responsibilities. Living in remote areas, and hence lacking education, health and technological facilities, nomads keep on living their lives in the makeshift tents they set up in the very land where the origin of civilisation has its roots. This is the paradox of civilization: the place where everything originated seems not having moved since then.
