Thank you to the Interact District Council who met up in Phoenix to load all the collected mobility devices into a large U-Haul truck that will then be transported to Denver to then be shipped directly to Kenya!

Truly an impactful and life changing experience. Serving these school children in Kenya taught me the importance of support and humility. When distributing the mobility devices to the disabled I was awed by the constant circulation of generosity and compassion found among the people of Naivasha. I love them all with my entire heart.

by perseverance the snail reached the ark

servicing people, especially at a global level, has always been a dream of mine but it’s always felt so far away up until now. I’m so blessed to have been considered for such an incredible experience and even more fortunate that I got to be included in it as an ambassador. meeting these beautiful souls and living in their spaces even for just a small moment changed everything for me - they have so much joy, passion, and love and yet are unable to do anything with it because of disabilities or lack of resources. the fact that we were able to help that and help them feel enabled or gain back some power in their lives and themselves, even just a tiny bit, means everything. I truly left a part of my heart in Kenya.

It's a great weekend to retreat to the tall pines in Prescott for the annual Interact District Council assistant governors training. Getting ready for another exciting year of growing Interact in Arizona.

The Kenya Team began the day around 10 a.m., setting out to distribute mobility devices. Their first stop was a family-run farm village where they enjoyed a quick tour and shared food with the hosts. They handed out stickers, candy, and bouncy balls to local kids, spreading joy before moving on.

While traveling between stops, the team bonded with Rotaractors over an intense game of Mafia—sparking betrayal and laughter.

Their second stop was particularly moving: they gifted a wheelchair to an elderly man with severely bent legs who previously slid along the ground to move. He was deeply grateful. At the third stop, another elderly man with weak knees received a wheelchair, his joy radiating through his smile.

The team then visited Express Vision Academy, a preschool–8th grade school facing significant flooding issues, before continuing distributions. In one town, they provided a walker and cane to an elderly woman and canes to two elderly men.

Later, they visited a couple in need of wheelchairs. The husband, who had suffered a botched surgery 15 years ago, shared his story. Though he was unable to use the provided wheelchair due to his unique needs, he selflessly asked that it go to someone else in need—despite his immense personal suffering.

As the day went on, the team dropped off remaining devices and met a young boy with cerebral palsy. Sadly, the wheelchair available didn’t fit him properly, a reminder of how challenging it can be to meet every specific need despite the team’s best intentions.

They ended the day distributing more candy and toys to local children before attending a joyful joint Rotary-Rotaract meeting. There, they exchanged Rotary flags, made new connections, and felt warmly welcomed.

Finally, they returned to their host families for well-deserved rest after a long and impactful day.
