Ontdek haar mooie muziekkeuzes in De Liefhebber.

[Cultural Reads] Antwerp Fashion Festival presents fashion through a broader cultural lens — moving beyond runway structures into workshops, installations, conversations, exhibitions, music, and public programming spread throughout the city.
Across the festival, fashion operates less as an isolated discipline and more as part of a wider creative ecosystem connected to design, art, nightlife, entrepreneurship, and community-building.
Projects like JUNCTION reflect this shift particularly clearly, bringing together streetwear, local music culture, workshops, and emerging creative networks within an open and accessible format aimed at younger audiences.
At the same time, collaborations such as After Work by Julie Kegels and COUR explore the growing overlap between fashion, interiors, objects, and lived environments, while projects like Mon Rêve D’Enfant reintroduce ideas of memory, slowness, and personal history into the conversation around contemporary fashion.
Taken together, the festival reflects how cultural events are increasingly moving toward interdisciplinary and city-wide formats — where fashion becomes a framework for exchange, participation, and collective cultural identity rather than simply presentation alone.

Artist Dirk Vander Eecken

Some painters announce themselves with noise. Dirk Vander Eecken arrives in a hush: A grid, a veil of misted color, the faintest shimmer of gold or silver—these are the building blocks of his visual language. These vocabularies are generated by the landscape of Watervliet with its rhythm: the repetition of ploughed fields, the horizontal tension between dike and sky. There, he began to work from observation toward abstraction, developing grids that mimic land lines, stains that evoke distance.
