Exhausting week - usual work stuff packed into fewer days and three consecutive nights of plays to review - but not only for good reasons but in an extremely flll-my-cup way including the fact that none of the plays were bad.

Wednesday wrapped this year's celebrations of @kris.g.courtney's birthday with @fonzette9 and I taking her to Anne's hometown (and Kris's home of 40ish years) Findlay for a beautiful performance by @christhile in MPAC aka Anne's middle school auditorium.

Took in some local history winding our way back south including a stop at Rt 23 institution @samsbarlewiscenter and I went straight to Dublin for dinner and a really charming production of Picasso at The Lapin Agile at @abbeytheaterofdublin.

Friday after closing the laptop took in a happy hour release show for @petemillsjazz great new record at @gingerrabbitjazz.

From there, headed to astonishing production of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson helmed by @tyrell_j_m.a that caved in my chest followed by dinner soundtracked by a variety show at @thebluedanubeonhigh including a honky-tonk band essaying Big Joe Turner's "Shake Rattle and Roll."

Saturday, lunch of my favorite ribs at @bandksmokehouse had the extra bonus of a terrific art show by @b.crumpler06. Also saw excellent solo by @marlisadunn_ at @sarahgormleygallery and fantastic group at @hammond_harkins.

Caught The Drama at @studio35cinema with great friends Rob, @erinmcham4, @colin_gawel and their niece Madison, had a great debrief about it after at @indiaoak_grill.

@moviolamusic with @kahnso sounded fantastic at Rumba. Hated leaving as Califone took the stage but my heart soared at @emberwomenstheatre's lovely premiere of Maladies with a really fresh playwright voice and great performances. Ended with night-cap at @oconnorsclub20 with a cross-section of people I love.

Sunday was allheart-filling stops: wrote, @clairechaseflute leading a Day of Listening at @wexarts Including hero @susie.ibarra left me grinning and reinvigorated parts of my love of music and people. Always excellent Sunday w @thecominghome__ at @cure_614 and cherry on top was powerful sets by Aaron Alsop and @kikiforreal1 at @streetlightguild.

Leather sculpture by Marvin Vines “Black Madona”

As a creative no one can define the retail value of your creations but you the artist. Nothing I hate more than bias white institutions trying to appraise the value of African American Art. Nationally acclaimed Columbus Artist Benjamin Crumpler shared with me a valuable piece of knowledge when I first got into the art business:
“Allow no one to define the value of Marvin’s art you have to carry his legacy with the same dignity and pride your brother did.”#artist #fineart #blackart #museums #blackcreatives #instagram #artcollectorworld
