“B4” EPs continue to take over and vax is next in line

vax’s evolution over the past couple of years has been incredible and it’s why he’s one of the more prevalent rappers in the underground. from “blue dawn” to his many singles and now to his latest project “b4vxn,” vax has been absolutely feeding his fans

now he joins a long list of underground rappers who have done a “b4” project. the “b4” project concept is a small ep right before the artist releases a larger album. you can think of it like a deluxe album, but in reverse. rappers like lucki, pz’, nine vicious, and sofaygo have all done one in the past and now vax does as well

“awol” was the leadoff track to this project that vax released as a single not too long ago. vax has such a unique voice and cadence and i really enjoy how he uses that upper register on this track. the way he kind of punches the word “awol” is super fun as well. it feels like we’ve seen vax get a lot more confident in experimenting with ad-libs and making that electric upper register really pop over time

“tony montana” was for sure my favorite from the project as a whole. in the music video, vax really tries to get into the shoes of the famous character from “scarface.” the lower vocal ad-libs are a really big switch up for vax and makes this track super interesting. i wonder if he is using that lower voice to imitate the sound of the character’s voice from the movie

vax has been on a generational run for the underground rap scene and it seems like he’s not done quite yet. what do y’all think? when do you think vax will drop his album? did you like hearing a lower voice on “tony montana?” lmk below <3
