POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This Sunday I’ll be showing some new work at the @kunsthallewien Artists’ Market ❄️

It’s a series of ideas I started in Tel Aviv, but that were unfinished when I moved.

So I took this opportunity to remake them here in Vienna, because they still feel important. They tell the story of how I transitioned from pottery back to sculpture, and to the wall-based work that I’m making now.

If you’re in Vienna in weekend, please come check them out! I’ll be selling affordable work with a lot of amazing artists that I’m excited to see :)🏺

SHELF DOUBT
(70x50x15cm)

A series of sponge sculptures 🧽 cast in a soft squishy foam (think Nerf 🏈)

It’s a recontinuation of the shelf sculptures that I stared making twenty years ago. For me they’re very personal, almost spiritual.

Maybe existential, in that I think they’re about what life’s like and what it feels like to be an artist in this world.

This is not Special Vessels. It’s something different. Stayed tuned.

Raising Strong Boys is a free workshop for parents raising sons and caregivers to boys.

Boys are struggling and from a cultural lens, masculinity is a mess.

How do we raise our sons when we can’t decide what a man should be?

Join hundreds of other parents who give a shit and are willing to invest in raising the next generation of men with clarity and intention.

Link is in the bio.

One of the most useful curatorial philosophical concepts is Johann Gottlieb Fichte's "primacy of the practical," developed in his Wissenschafts/ehre (1804), and its idea of the "toolkit": a store of ideas which can help a thinker develop a worldview or explain being in the world. We might consider both the life of Sigmund Freud and his Pandora's box of writing, lectures, and thinking as one such tool kit into which we can reach to elucidate a world of contemporary art. And by envisioning it as a Pandora's box - and not just a toolbox per se - one never knows what might come out!

I had a great time chatting with @pdblais for his awesome podcast ‘The Potter’s Cast’

We talk about how I fell into the world of ceramics, and changed lanes from sculpture to pottery.

After an hour of discussing international and intergalactic travel, Paul asked if I ever felt that I was the real alien – a stranger in a strange land.

Yes, Paul…I do (Link in Bio) 🔗
