Meet Ms. Atugonza Mercy, founder of Banura Coffee. A coffee lover and passionate farm girl from Rubaga, Mercy is on a mission to create change in her community through coffee value addition. She believes that young people do not have to own farmland to participate in agriculture. When access to land becomes a barrier, value addition opens another door. Through Banura Coffee, Mercy is championing a new way for young people to participate in the agricultural value chain, create opportunities, and build livelihoods around a product deeply rooted in Uganda. Her vision is simple: bring more young people into agriculture by helping them see the opportunities beyond the farm. Because sometimes, changing agriculture begins with changing how we see it. #SustainableAccessFoundation #AfricaAccelerator #BanuraCoffee #YouthInAgriculture #ValueAddition #AfricanEntrepreneurs #LookWhatBecamePossible

Big love to Babaluku for pulling up to the studio! We talked music, spirit, language and everything in between! The interview is still a few weeks away, but go read my Lugaflow article from last week and get familiar with Babaluku's music. No excuses! Until then, keep tuning in to Berry Black, Saturdays 7–8pm on 2XX FM. By force or fire! #BerryBlack #Babaluku #Lugaflow #UgandanHipHop #2xxfm

What does it mean to belong in Uganda today? That’s the question Threads of Belonging has put to everyone who has walked into the @hrauaf this week. Painters, poets, musicians, dancers and panellists have each answered it in their own language. The answer is a face being painted onto the wall, poems, and panels. Every one carries their own belonging. When a hard question about rights becomes something you can see, hear and talk about, it stops belonging only to experts. 🗓 Until Sat 17 October · 📍 Xenson Art Space, Kampala · Free entry. All welcome. #ThreadsOfBelonging #HumanRightsArtsFestivalUG

Lugaflow The Sound of Uganda It is a music that seems to emulate the Boda bodas arguing with traffic. Church speakers at a volume Jesus himself did not request, the rain attacking a tin roof and the sound of rooster crowing obnoxiously before your alarm has been given a chance to do its job. Lugaflow, or Luganda Flow in full, is hip-hop performed in Luganda, but please don’t let the language barrier scare you. You do not need to understand every word, because God knows I don’t. The flow will explain itself. The words dance like a couple on a dust speckled dance floor on a hot Kampala night. You might have absolutely no idea what this man is saying and still find yourself body moving like his words are like a hand on your hip. Lugaflow carries something translation cannot completely give you. It carries Kampala. It carries humour, struggle, ego, storytelling, neighbourhoods, politics and that very Ugandan ability to make a joke while everything around us is slightly on fire. This sound moves from the ghettos of Kampala to the high green hills where the water never stops and neither does the electricity. Let me be clear, this is not Uganda copying American hip-hop. It is what happened when hip-hop arrived in Uganda, learnt Luganda, and got caned for over staying its visa. It morphed transformed and left no trace of the original. It became our own. This is hardcore Ugandan music. Our language. Our rhythm. Our flow. So now I am obsessed and I will get you Obsessed by force or fire. Berry Black says start here: Babaluku — go back to the foundations HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY UGANDA!

🎫 Entrada libre.
