Many people who are new in the industry think they’re getting qualifications because some training academies mis-sell. If you are investing in a what you think is a qualification make sure it’s Oqual regulated.

Ofqual Regulated Qualification is a nationally recognised qualification regulated by Ofqual. It follows set standards for assessment, quality assurance and learning outcomes. Often preferred by employers and may be required for certain professional roles.

CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Course: Training designed to improve existing skills, knowledge and professional competence. CPD courses are generally shorter, more flexible and industry-focused but are not automatically Ofqual regulated or nationally recognised qualifications.

Key Difference: An Ofqual regulated qualification provides formal, regulated recognition of competence, whereas a CPD course provides evidence of ongoing professional learning and skills development.

Be the change you want to see.

I’ve always believed that if you want to see change within an industry you love, you have to be willing to stand up, speak out and do something about it.

For me, this is so much more than brows. It’s personal. It’s about family, representation, education and ensuring that every skin tone is seen, understood and treated with the knowledge and care it deserves.

I’m not here to speak for communities whose lived experiences aren’t mine. I’m here to stand alongside them, amplify their voices and use my platform to advocate for meaningful change.

Inclusivity shouldn’t be an afterthought. It should be the foundation.

And melanated skin education should never be considered a niche. It should be the norm.

I’m proud of the conversations we’re starting, but conversations alone aren’t enough. I want to see real change in how our industry educates its professionals.

And I intend to keep pushing for it.

Because change doesn’t happen by simply talking about it. It happens when we take action.

This is just the beginning. 🫶🏼

Another year of professional commitment 🤍

I’m proud to have renewed my @babtac membership for another year.

But this is more than just a badge. It represents my commitment to professional standards, continued learning and, most importantly, your safety as a client.

Being a BABTAC member means I’m:

✨ Qualified and verified, with regulated qualifications
✨ Fully insured
✨ Committed to ongoing education and best practice
✨ Accountable to a professional body that supports high standards and client protection

In an industry where not all treatments and qualifications are regulated in the same way, I believe it’s important to be transparent about my training, standards and professional commitments.

When it comes to your skin, you deserve to know who you’re trusting.

Your skin health, safety and trust will always be at the heart of everything I do.

Serious about skin. Committed to standards. Always. 🤍

Last week, we took Sharp Standards to the Scottish Parliament.

Developed in partnership with BABTAC, our free microneedling good practice guide gives skincare and aesthetics practitioners the knowledge and guidance to deliver safe microneedling services. It’s designed to support compliance with existing and emerging legislation across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

While there, we discussed the new Scottish legislation coming into force in September 2027, championing clear standards, practitioner education and client safety as our industry moves forward.

Download your free copy via the link in our bio and be part of raising the standard.

THERE IS MORE TO MICRONEEDLING THAN YOU THINK 🩶

I completely understand that prices can vary between salons, I have had a few messages over the last few days about my prices and it’s natural to compare. But when it comes to microneedling, there’s so much more to consider than the price alone, it’s an advanced treatment with lots to concider.

At Aurora Therapies, I’ve invested in professional equipment, ongoing education and the products I use to support your skin. Every treatment also involves time for consultation, assessing suitability, maintaining hygiene standards and providing appropriate aftercare.

✨ Following the Dermalogica x BABTAC Sharp Standards guidance is part of my commitment to continuing responsible practice.

✨ Sterile, single-use cartridges and safe sharps disposal are essential.

✨ Your skin, medical history and individual needs always come first.

✨ Professional knowledge, treatment protocols and aftercare are all part of your experience.

These are not extras I’m willing to compromise on to offer a cheaper priced treatment.

You’re not simply paying for time with a microneedling pen. You’re investing in the knowledge, equipment, preparation and care behind it. 🤍

I’ll always be mindful of the cost of treatments, but I won’t cut corners when it comes to your skin health and safety.

And my clients will know this with me, I set rules and my own protocols at the start of the year so you know what’s going to happen and the path we will take with your skin. And the education doesn’t stop I’ve looked into Level 4 already because there is new legislations comming to Scotland in September 2027.

But please remeber my inbox is always open for any questions you may have.

When Laura finds out her social media manager doesn’t wear SPF… 😂🤦‍♂️

(😬)

But joking aside, it’s a reminder that there are still so many people who don’t use SPF daily, especially here in the UK, where we don’t always see much sunshine! ☁️

And that’s exactly why we love sharing these little conversations. Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated, but sometimes it’s the simplest habits that make the biggest difference. 🌿

Be honest… are you wearing SPF every day? 👀👇

On Thursday, we were delighted to be invited by Dermalogica to the Scottish Parliament for the Sharps Standards event.

It was fantastic to see Dermalogica and BABTAC leading the way in championing safer practices, raising industry standards and providing clear, accessible guidance to support professionals across the beauty and aesthetics industry.

With legislative changes on the horizon, the importance of safe practice, professional responsibility and consistent industry standards has never been greater. Ensuring that practitioners have access to the right education, guidance and resources is essential in protecting both clients and professionals.

A huge well done to Dermalogica and BABTAC for their continued commitment to driving positive change, supporting our industry and helping to shape a safer, more accountable future.

We all have policies in place to protect our businesses.

Whilst we may be only small & independent compared to some of those examples. It’s even more so important to respect our policies. The little treatments you have & to cancel last minute or don’t show can have a detrimental effect on some self employed workers in the industry - meaning they then cannot complete an order for the following week, pay their rent or even put food on the table! Please don’t take your beauty or hair therapist for granted, and assume a ‘friendship’ level means these things slide. 🫶🏼
