Happy Juneteenth from the Auto Body Shop! Today, like every day, is a good time to support and show love to Black people & organizations in Pittsburgh with words AND actions. You can start right now: donate to one of the orgs listed, DM or email us proof + your mailing address, and we’ll send you a fun bundle of random repro related stickers in return :) We’ll have this going through the rest of June! More info about the orgs: ⭐Black Dream Escape is a therapeutic arts practice that focuses on Black and Indigenous rest/sleep/dreams. Black Dream Escape educates, guides, and soothes. Using original music and original meditation scripts, we guide people into a rested state. Our practices soothe the parts of the self that struggle with stillness, boredom, and self-worth. We educate individuals and the wider ethos about the overdue sleep and rest debt that Black and Indigenous people have been forced to accumulate. ⭐Black Unicorn Library & Archive Project’s mission is to cultivate libraries as sites of learning, possibility, and freedom and to celebrate the literary and artistic contributions of Black women, queer, Trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people across the Diaspora. Black Unicorn explores the relationship between literacy and liberation and brings a unique experience and lens to material collection, information sharing, and community building. ⭐Gwen’s Girls provides holistic, gender-specific programs, education, and experiences for at-risk children and young adults in Allegheny County. More importantly, we offer a safe space where girls and young women can form relationships, build self-esteem, and develop resilience. ⭐Black Anarchist Community Council is a mutual aid org that raises funds for and supports Black Pittsburghers in need. They also distro literature & reproductive health/harm reduction supplies. Beyond today, we invite you to fit mutual aid & reparations into your monthly budget plan! Send your friend some flowers or cook them a yummy meal! Punch a racist in the face! Get creative, we believe in you❤️

Repost due to typo on organizations to support! We here at the Basil Al Araj Revolutionary Mobile Library want to take a moment during this Black History Month, one finding white folks waking up to a fascist police state tracking them that has existed for Black and Brown people since day 1, to call in our white audience. Black History Month is more than just a moment to educate ourselves and others on a few moments or people in history then move on. It is a call to action, a call to actively dismantle whiteness within ourselves and as an ordering system of violence in the world. It is a call to all white folks, especially those of us calling ourselves leftists and anti-racsists, to get down to buisness. Call out other white people, discuss regulalry how each of us maintain whiteness in ourselves and how we interact, interrogate how we make unsafe and detrimental spaces to Black people in our movements, and how we need to fight anti-Blackness and racism in our communities. This requires a lot of intense self-reflection, and is not a moment to pat ourselves on the back for the work done or sit in guilt for things we ‘did not realize’. It is a time to work for the future, to kill the white within us, and to dismantle whiteness as a power globally. To sit and listen to Black voices, to support their mission and liberation materially and by also confronting our own communities via direct action against spaces of white power (like the state, banking systems, levers of the economy, the media monopolies, etc.) We also suggest following these social media accounts daily promoting political education and ways to support: @crutches_and_spice @factsandfire @harrietsdreams @dugoutpodcast @buttereffectunplugged @deante.kyle @miujizammilagoro @tanishaevonne @angelfromthebloc @blacktransmutualaid @nonamereads @voxummah @chainsl4yer9000 @abolitionschool

A note from POETRY LOUNGE regarding the General Nationwide Strike in support of Minnesota: Poetry Lounge has always stood for the freedoms of every individual in this country, and beyond our borders, to pursue their inalienable rights to LIFE, LIBERTY, and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. These rights, under the current administration, have been suppressed, strangled, and more recently, executed in our city streets, in front of our very eyes, by a vicious agency intent on destroying the foundations of our communities. We stand with the protesters across this country, to make our voices heard, that this is not the future we want for our families, our neighbors, or ourselves. This reign of terror must end! We will be open at 3pm tomorrow, to serve our community as a safe haven, and safe space in an unsafe world. Furthermore, Poetry Lounge will be donating 50% of our total profits from Friday evenings sales to Casa San José, a local non-profit organization which supports Pittsburgh’s Latino community with social services, education, healthcare, and immigrant rights advocacy. You can make a difference too. Support small businesses, pay with cash, promote those owner/operators who share the same values that you wish to see upheld. All of these small decisions speak volumes to the corporations that support our current fascist regime. NO HUMAN IS ILLEGAL! NO AGENCY IS ABOVE THE LAW!
