🎉🎂 Please join me in wishing my son, Jett, a very Happy 14th Birthday! ❤️

Jett, from the moment you came into my life, you’ve filled my heart with more love and happiness than I ever imagined. Watching you grow up has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I’m so proud of the young man you’re becoming, and I hope you always know how much you mean to me.

Being your dad is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Happy 14th Birthday, Jett! No matter how big you get, you’ll always be my little boy. I love you more than words can say, today and forever! ❤️

Love, Dad

Can you win the next hour?
Can you dominate today’s reps?
Leaders show up early.
Discipline is keeping promises to yourself.
If you control your attention, you control your life.

Understand that...
Your circle affects your ceiling.
Energy is contagious.
Drama drains performance.

Start asking yourself...
Who pushes you?
Who distracts you?
Who tells you the truth?
Who helps you grow?

This league represents an exciting and uplifting partnership between Back 2 Basics Basketball Academy and the Max Schoenberg School community. Our goal is to create a safe, positive, and accessible environment where young people can develop their basketball skills while also developing the knowledge, character, confidence, and life skills necessary for success beyond the court.

OUR MISSION

Back 2 Basics Basketball Academy is committed to providing basketball and sports-related opportunities for children and families who may not otherwise have access to them, particularly throughout the South Bronx.

Max2Basics brings together students from P.S. X70, participants from Back 2 Basics Academy, community members, coaches, volunteers, and student interns around one common purpose: using basketball as a vehicle for education, opportunity, mentorship, and community development.

The 3-on-3 format creates opportunities for every player to be actively involved in the game. With fewer players on the court, participants have more opportunities to handle the ball, make decisions, defend, communicate, move without the ball, and understand spacing.

“Help us raise $5,000 to get our team van back on the road and an additional $5,000 to help cover Workshops and League fees for teenagers that have been turned away from other team sports opportunities at their schools. At Back 2 Basics Academy, transportation means access, opportunity, and keeping our kids connected to basketball and community. Every donation helps us move our youth forward. Join Coach J and support our mission—because our kids deserve a ride to their next opportunity!” @back2basicsnyc @jennynavasky @avebekat @joandwag @lei_liv

WE ARE BRINGING IT BACK...
During the Winter of 2011, we started a 3 on 3 youth basketball development program at the Santa Maria School in the Bronx. It was titled S.A.T. Development which stood for Spacing, Angles & Timing. This program ran for over a decade and aided in developing the Foundation for hundreds of boys and girls, who went off to have successful student athlete journeys at larger organizations, high school, college and professionally overseas.
We are excited to announce that we rebranded the model and are expanding that model which is now called Max2Basics to The Max School (PSx70), also in the Bronx.
Max2Basics brings together students from P.S. X70, participants from Back 2 Basics Academy, community members, coaches, volunteers, and student interns around one common purpose: using basketball as a vehicle for education, opportunity, mentorship, and community development.
One of the core values of Max2Basics is that basketball is a vehicle for preparing young people for the future—regardless of what that future holds.

Our programming extends beyond basketball to include:

Education & High School Preparation
Students will receive guidance designed to help them understand the expectations and opportunities that come with their transition into high school.

Financial Literacy
Young athletes will be introduced to age-appropriate concepts surrounding money management, saving, budgeting, entrepreneurship, and financial responsibility.

Nutrition & Wellness
We educate students about the connection between nutrition, physical health, energy, recovery, athletic performance, and long-term wellness.

Character & Life Skills
Through mentorship and team experiences, students learn accountability, communication, empathy, conflict resolution, responsibility, and leadership.

Our belief is simple: when we educate the entire student, we give them tools that can benefit them both on and off the basketball court.

HELP BACK 2 BASICS GET BACK ON THE ROAD

For 25 years, Back 2 Basics Academy has used basketball as a vehicle for opportunity, mentorship, education and community.

Now we're asking our community to help us keep that opportunity moving.

Our transportation supports players getting to practices, games, tournaments, showcases, college visits, educational experiences and community programs.

But we're also preparing to launch Max2Basics — a pilot program designed to support children ages 8–13 in a Title I district through basketball skill development, basketball IQ, positive peer relationships, leadership and academic/community development.

🏀 FROM THE FIRST DRIBBLE TO THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY

Max2Basics will create an early foundation for young people before they reach the age when competitive youth sports can become increasingly expensive and difficult to access.

Through Max2Basics, we want to help young athletes:

• Develop fundamental basketball skills
• Build basketball IQ and decision-making
• Learn teamwork, communication and leadership
• Develop positive relationships with older peers and mentors
• Connect classroom success with athletic development
• Experience positive community-based activities
• Build confidence, discipline and healthy habits

And our #Believe2Be program continues that pathway for high-school-aged players who need another opportunity after not making their school team.

🚐 THE VAN CONNECTS THE PIPELINE

MAX2BASICS → #BELIEVE2BE → HIGHER OPPORTUNITIES

The van helps us connect young people to the places, people and experiences that make that pipeline possible.

3 WAYS TO HELP US GET BACK ON THE ROAD

🏀 $5,000 — ROAD TO $5K
Help us take the first major step toward getting our team transportation road-ready.

🤝 $2,500 — SPONSOR THE RIDE
Become a Back 2 Basics Community Transportation Partner and help keep our programs moving.

💙 50 SUPPORTERS × $50 = $2,500
Fifty people. Fifty dollars. One community.

🎯 TOTAL GOAL: $10,000

This isn't simply a fundraiser for a vehicle.

It's an investment in access.
It's an investment in opportunity.
It's an investment in our children.

The blueprint is set. The work starts now. 🛠️🏀

We are a training and development program built to shape athletes on and off the court. True success isn’t just about raw talent—it’s about structure, basketball IQ, and building an unshakeable sense of confidence.

💡 Our Philosophy: Develop First, Exposure Second.

In a world chasing instant highlights, we prioritize the invisible hours. Getting in front of scouts and cameras is meaningless if your game isn't ready. We focus on the grit, the fundamental mastery, and the mental toughness first.

When your moment of exposure finally arrives, we make sure you don't just get noticed—you dominate.

Don't just chase the spotlight. Build the foundation.

🧱 COME BUILD WITH US!

I said remember —- playing up is different. To stay on the floor you have to do the little things. They might not need you to be the scorer today but play your role. —— shooting, handling the ball to break the press. Spreading the floor and communicating on defense (also scoring the ball). Championship MVP off the bench is different! #journeyquestodyssey👧🏾👦🏾👶🏾 Back2basics 2026champs
