📣2026 BG BEER SPOT🟡: @backfortybeer, Gadsden, AL @back40bham, Birmingham, AL
🍺
“Back Forty Beer Company’s name is inspired by an old agricultural term referring to the 40 acres of land situated furthest from the barn. The back 40 acres are historically the most challenging land to maintain and are often overlooked due to their remote location. Likewise, Alabama is widely seen as the wasteland for craft beer in America. With mass produced light beer being the drink of choice for many Southerners, the craft beer market here has been largely ignored. However, if you dig a little deeper into the story of the back 40 you will see that because the soil is rarely used, it’s very fertile and is actually capable of producing a tremendous yield. And just like the farm, the Deep South’s craft beer culture is fertile and primed for harvest.”
📅
We look forward to toasting Back Forty’s liquid crafts at our 15th year November 7-8 at the @hoovermetcomplex! @mossrockfest’s 21st year is presented by @chase. We’re only 3 weeks away.

A Beer Garden ticket includes MRF Festival entry both Saturday & Sunday. Cheers to that! We recommend going to Beer Garden and grabbing lunch at a Festival food truck one day, then shop the artists and exhibitors the other day. Make a weekend out if it! Cheers!

YOOOOOO!!! 🤘🍻🔥 While out at @furnacefest in the Sloss District of Birmingham, Alabama, I stumbled upon an absolute GEM called @back40bham (Back Forty Beer Company), and OOOOOWIEEEEEE, what a freaking discovery!!! 😮‍💨🍔 This place is a BIG-ASS brewery with an awesome atmosphere, a tasty-looking menu, and some seriously GOOD EATS to go along with those brews! I went with the Back Forty Cheeseburger on recommendation, and LET ME TELL YA… THAT BAD BOY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! 🤤🤤 Juicy, fresh, packed with flavor, and satisfying enough to have you sitting there contemplating your next life decision after that last bite. 😂🍔 Every bite was hitting, and those fries??? STRAIGHT-UP SLAPPED!!! 🍟💥 Of course, I had to wash it all down with some of their excellent beer, grabbing the Naked Pig Pale Ale and, I believe, the Cloister 🍺🍺 both adding to an already killer experience. Nothing better than discovering a spot you weren’t even planning on visiting and walking away thinking, DAMN, I NEED TO COME BACK HERE!!! If you’re roaming around Birmingham, Alabama, looking for a solid brewery with delicious food and some tasty liquid gold, put Back40 on your radar! Furnace Fest brought the music, but Back Forty brought the burger and brews to keep this food-loving soul HAPPY!!! 🤘🍔🍻🔥 #birmingham #cheeseburgers #craftbeer #slossfurnace #alabama

My girls eat dinner in about five minutes. Here's where we take them anyway.

We go early (5 to 5:30), pick places with room to get up and move, and bring the wait kit: sticker books, watercolor books, playdough, snacks, and their own cups.

Swipe through for the spots that have worked for us in Birmingham, Homewood, and Mountain Brook, plus our takeout go-tos for the nights we stay home. No fancy restaurants on this list, and that's on purpose.

The full list is in this week's Substack. Link in bio.
