Shokz give solution for Openrun Open ear design so that you can have a situational awareness while hiking
But...
For hiking with movements and a lot of sweat, rain - which one is better?
Answer for me was Air 2
Why?
- Surprisingly better sound quality despite Pro2 claiming air+bone conduction@(Tip: Must download app and do one time setting change to Voice boost)
- For Bass - Pro 2 is supposed to be better and it is until you find out that from the app - You can customize Air2 to increase bass to almost the same level
- Air2 is lighter
- Air 2 is IP67 waterproof and you can rinse them off - Yes! Pro2 are IP55 and you can wipe them and they are ok for ordinary sweat - Not waterproof!
- Cost - Air2 was $99 vs $124 for Pro2 (Prime day otherwise $124 and $179)
- Unless you have to have Orange color - Air2 are the clear winners
- Tip - download the app to get the most out of it - No you don't always need an app to use them - one tome setting change
- Mini fit better - Standard is actually not standard - they are large - You can use their measuring guide before order (distance between the back of the ears - if close to 9 - mini fits better which I think should be called standard and standard should be called large)

We started the morning in Chamonix, hopped on the bus to Les Houches and officially started the Tour du Mont Blanc!!! 🥹

We were SO happy when we finally made it to the TMB start sign 😂🥾 After months of looking forward to this trip, it was such a surreal little “WE’RE ACTUALLY DOING THIS!!!” moment.

And honestly, we were instantly blown away. 😭🏔️ We lucked out with the clearest day and within the first few miles we were surrounded by huge mountains, glacier views and the cutest little alpine towns below us. I swear we stopped every five minutes to take another picture 😂

We decided to take the Col de Tricot alternate/high route instead of the standard route and I’m SO glad we did. The views of the Bionnassay Glacier were INSANE 🧊🏔️ Definitely a harder way to kick off the TMB, but such a beautiful first day.

Eventually we made our way down into Les Contamines-Montjoie and checked into Hotel La Chemenaz for the night! Our hotel was SO cute and somehow had a heated outdoor pool, which felt absolutely amazing after hiking all day 😂

We finished the night with an amazing dinner at the hotel and were already so excited to wake up and do it all over again the next morning 🥹

And because I know I’ll get questions about the logistics — we did the TMB self-guided with Alpine Exploratory, so our hotels, route planning and luggage transfers were all arranged for us. We just carried our day packs and hiked from town to town each day, which was SUCH a fun way to experience it.

Just got home from the most wonderful 8 days hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc 🥹🏔️🥾 100ish miles through France, Italy & Switzerland
🇫🇷🇮🇹🇨🇭

Insane glacier views, huge mountain passes, waterfalls, wildflowers, the cutest little mountain towns and SOOO many cows, sheep, goats & marmots 🐄🐑🐐😂 Every day was completely different & full of some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! 🌞

Alsooo the fact that you can hike all day and stop along the trail for a cappuccino, pastry, cheese or pasta??? 😂 I could get used to hiking in Europe!!! ☕️🍝

I think my favorite part was just waking up every morning, putting my shoes on and knowing we were walking to the next town (or country!!!). Such a simple little life for 8 days 🥹

If you’re looking for your next international hiking adventure, put the TMB on your list!!! I would do this one again in a heartbeat 🤍

Oh August, what a beautiful month you were 🥲

Here’s a little photo/video recap of the month. I know I’ve been a little quiet on here, but a lot of life has been happening these past few weeks, so much so that I’ve barely had any time to edit (or sleep, really). August truly slipped away & I’m not quite sure how it’s September 5th already.

After spending the first couple weeks healing my ankle & doing lots of work, the second half of the month was jam-packed. It was filled with hiking, backpacking, time with friends, camping with my parents, & of course, some good live music. And then I moved apartments at the end of the month, just to add to the chaos.

So much good happened this August & I’m incredibly grateful for all of it.

Some gratitudes for the month:
📷 Thanks to @jp.huerta for pic 2!! We randomly met on a trail we were both backpacking & learned we have SO many mutual friends haha. Super random, but I’m so happy we crossed paths and had so many good conversations.
🐞 Seeing @noahkahanmusic live was incredibly special. I resonate with his music so deeply & have basically played it nonstop all year. His new album dropped when I was in Yosemite earlier this year & I remember so vividly listening to “End of August” as I was driving around the valley…it was magical ✨
🏠 A huge thanks to my Bham fam for helping me move. I wouldn’t be where I am without all of you 💕
🧚 Grateful for @hamabear & our good hiking yaps. We always have the best days together.
🎒Grateful for the thru-hiking community & getting to meet so many awesome people through it. Had such a fun time at the @thetrek.co meetup in Seattle!
💛 So grateful for all the people in my life – my friends and my family. & a huge thanks to my parents for coming out to WA to watch my dog and help me move.
🥾 Grateful for my body & all the big mile days it can handle, but also for all the experience I’ve gained over the years that lets me trust myself out there. I went on a pretty hard & VERY solo backpacking trip (more on that later) that tested me physically and mentally. It was quite literally the most alone I’ve ever been on a hike.

It was a chaotic, exhausting, & beautiful month. Thanks, August 🫶🥹
