Heartbreak as Cape Verde and Pico Lopes 𝐁𝐎𝐖 𝐎𝐔𝐓 of the World Cup 💔🇨🇻🇮🇪

Where do I even start? From the fact that a country with a population of just half a million people qualified, or that they managed to reach the Round of 32, making reigning World Champions Argentina fight until the absolute final whistle?

I was always going to have a soft spot for Cape Verde because of Pico, but I didn't expect myself to get this attached to the team. The sheer passion these players possess is totally insane and it is genuinely gut wrenching seeing them get kicked out after putting in a performance like this...

As for our own Pico Lopes, words won't do him justice. A lad from the streets of Crumlin, fulfilling his biggest dream right in front of his family. He has been absolutely 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐋 at the back for the Blue Sharks, dropping an average 7.2 rating across massive games against Spain, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and Argentina (!!). He and the team can hold their heads incredibly high. What a journey it has been, what the World Cup is all about. 🦈🌍

Keep your head up @pico_lopes 🙌
