Exciting Collaboration project with GIU x Dina Shaker Brand In January 2024, I received an inspiring proposal from Professor @keghamdjeghalian Djeghalian to collaborate on his Main Design Project class with 3rd-year fashion design students at the @giu_egypt German University in Cairo . The project, a collaboration with Dina Shaker Brand #GIU x Dina Shaker, was an opportunity I immediately embraced with enthusiasm. Being part of such a talented and creative team was not just an irresistible opportunity, but also an honorable assignment. It was a chance to support and foster emerging talents from a prestigious institution like GIU and contribute to the growth of the Egyptian fashion industry. Our goal was to shape it into an impactful economic force powered by skilled fashion designers. Yesterday, we celebrated the culmination of this 6-month journey with the students’ final presentation. Over two days, 40 talented students showcased their incredible work. I had the honor of serving as a jury member alongside Professor @keghamdjeghalian Djeghalian and his assistant instructors witnessing firsthand the remarkable creativity and dedication of these young designers. This journey was filled with empowerment, support, and growth for all the students involved. I’m incredibly proud of what they have achieved and wish them all the best for their Bachelor thesis next year. So much to say to recap a whole campaign in one reel, but here’s the summary and why October is so important: - The SHE Campaign for strength, health and empowerment started in 2021 and featured 7 female-owned brands who contributed and designed products to fill the PINK POUCH. Each purchase of the pouch funded a mammogram and sonar at @baheyafoundation - Current B**b necklaces and bracelets are a continuation of this cause, proceeds go to Baheya. "Your craft will always save you" has been one of my favorite mantras for a few years now. I hate to call what I do work. It is ALOT of work, mentally, physically, and financially exhausting, but it's still not work. It's really home. It's my most sense of self and safety. It's this moment of intersection between how fast your brain can process and premeditate your task and how fast, efficient, and accurate you can execute it. And to be completely honest, so often can our craftsmanship let our brain down. It is what it is, and that's how we learn. And the next time around you catch yourself in a moment, doing something a certain way, inspite everything you've been through, surprising your brain with what you can do, you realize that your craftsmanship restored or unlocked a new level of "I can totally do this". Here you are, yet again, saved.
