PROOF that actually I wasn't just "making it up" as I "go along" actually*

Anyway. It was a GOOD Friday ❤️
Huge thanks from us to everyone who got involved yesterday: a day that started with a full-on crèche and a table full of real ale specialists getting a musical education from Karen, and finished with a proper heads down, hands up dancefloor session. Thanks to all the DJs for all the time and care invested in gathering and choosing music - it's very easy to underestimate how much work these fucking music nerds put in. Doing all that means parties like this can happen in the heart of the community. Special mentions and prolonged, uncomfortable hugs to people who helped set up, loaned equipment and of course Matt, Jethro, Rob & Jo running @featherstarpub and being the real heroes in all of this (another thing most people don't see is that not only did Jo and Rob help us pack up all the gear straight after the filthy rave but then they gave Karen and me a lift home ❤️❤️❤️).

Anyway, I could go on. Good work everybody. Next one is Sat May 30th.

So. 2025. Yay 😶
Anyway, we're playing music at the Feather Star this Saturday, keeping things low key and feeding the ears/brain. Heavy on the dub from me for the first part of the evening, sliding into whatever Karen "Birthday" Normal and her special guest and supreme selector @badlydressedboy feel is appropriate.

We'll start by 7, finish when we stop, and there's also bonus 🇲🇼Malawian food being served from the Front Room, raising money for the Bahasi orphanage where one of the legendary pub crew volunteers - swipe to see the menu.

As always the sound will be warm, inviting and special (just like you 😍) and we'll be taking full advantage of that as we do something slightly different early on and feature an entire album played from end to end through the vintage Tascam mixer and our other audio goodness. This will be my favourite release of 2024 - a peerless collection of mostly lesser known work from Dennis Bovell dating from the late 70s. That will start soon after 7 (probably... but we're on feather star time...)

From @dennisbovell's Bandcamp:
This compilation focuses on the period during and immediately after Bovell's involvement with the Jah Sufferer Sound System, digging deep to find deep cuts and lesser known versions, mainly from 1976 - 1980, plus a killer and lesser heard dub of the iconic "Silly Games”.
Painstakingly restored and remastered at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin so that these decades old tracks sound pristine and dynamic, and sequenced to take the listener on a journey through Bovell's production and arrangement genius.

Continuum did not disappoint. All DJs were spot on. Another great Sunday at the big disco.

Big shout out to Craig's beautiful A&H V6.

This month we’re bringing the illegal warehouse rave vibes with a takeover by MRVLSME & friends. This lot have about 100 years DJ experience between them, so it’s gonna be proper safe mate!

B2B sets throughout the night, spanning old and nu garage, breaks, tech house, rave and the odd bit of techno - equal measures of filth and hands in the air guaranteed.

Also, we recently rearranged and improved the 8k sound system, so now she’s an absolute goer. We’ll probably need to bring in one more lazer and a massive strobe tbh.

FRIDAY 4TH OCT - @crownandsceptresw2 (Meet in the car park at 9pm for location details 😂)

And so to London with two bags of vinyl, including this absolute weapon. Ponderosa Party Time baby. If you know you know.

(We're at the Lord Napier in Hackney Wick tonight, if this doesn't put you off.)
