Here is to my first paid modelling campaign with my school. I hope you may see us on the billboards, magazines, Netflix marketing, and advertisements around the cities. I had a few memorable moments in the year 2025 and this was one of them. The best people I met and worked with for three days in this marketing campaign. Thanks a lot @mynbcc for this golden opportunity. @baileybrynnn phenomenal photography skills, @jilhamer optimistic and cheerful energy, @kaymfg amazing management skills, @gilliangoldie calm and unique suggestions, and @creatively_charlotte marvellous studio set up made this project successful and exciting. Thank you so much everyone for having me and I really appreciate your love as well as support! Missing you in the frame @creatively_charlotte .

Part of my keynote presentation ‘Embrace Where You Live’ is about the power of genuine connection. In a world of AI, algorithms, and likes, I believe that the written word - something tangible, human, and lasting - has never been more important.

I always tell students: if you want to stand out, don’t send a DM - write a letter.

Writing letters changed my life. As a kid, it led me to become pen pals with Kate Winslet, land my dream jobs, and get advice from my heroes: advice I followed to the letter. That’s why, at each NBCC keynote last week, we ended with a simple but powerful exercise: write a letter to someone who inspires you.

The results were extraordinary. One that moved me deeply was from Tracey Hanlon, a Business Administration student, who wrote to her NBCC advisor Karen. Tracy’s letter was a beautiful, emotional tribute to mentorship and the power of being seen.

Tracey bravely agreed to read it out on stage to over 300+ people. Something I never could have done at her age.

“You taught with incredible patience, and I always love how you share your real-life experience. You showed us how what we learn applies in the real world. I feel like I am more prepared for life after college because of you.”

She went on to say:

“College is a scary place in the beginning, especially if you’re making a big life change like me — in my late twenties, leaving a full-time job to go back to school. But you made me feel like I belong and that I will thrive. And you were right.”

And finally:

“You have left a positive impact on my life, and every student you have taught and will teach is incredibly lucky. You are amazing.”

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It was a powerful reminder that education is about connection - and that a simple letter can carry more heart and meaning than a thousand digital messages ever could. Tracey, you are amazing. And thank you Karen for nurturing such great talents like Tracey. Tracey and her fellow NBCC students are the future of New Brunswick and we are in very safe hands.

On my final day delivering keynotes for NBCC @mynbcc across the province, something truly magical happened in Fredericton. I arrived and was greeted by an incredible young man named Mason. Then I was welcomed on stage by NBCC’s much loved and admired Marketing Instructor Tracy.

During my talk that is about the power of connection (and the importance of nurturing real connections), I shared a story about a Fredericton entrepreneur who moved here with his family, saw a gap, and built something the community needed. I spoke about Rob Reese, the owner of The Royal Barbershop @royalbarbershopnorth on Queen Street @downtown_fredericton. A master of his craft with a history in music promotion and legendary events, and someone I deeply admire. My friends Thandiwe McCarthy @the1blackpoet and Gary Weekes profiled him for [EDIT] magazine.

The talk ends. The applause settles. Then the moment.

Mason is Rob and Tracy’s son.
Tracy is Rob’s wife.
The very family I had just spoken about.
Right there in the room.

Only in New Brunswick. Only here do stories come full circle while you are still telling them.

Then Tracy tells me something beautiful. Last week, Mason wrote a handwritten letter to Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine asking for an interview. And Tom Morello said yes. This was the entire message of my keynote and here was Mason, already living it!

This is New Brunswick. This is NBCC.,
Where courage matters.
Where letters matter.
Where family and community shape the future.

To Mason: You will go far, my friend.
To Tracy and Rob: Thank you.

As Thandiwe so wisely wrote: “It’s easy to see that Rob Reese cares. About himself, his family and the community he serves. After selling his successful business in Las Vegas, Rob knew he wanted to start a barbershop and even went to school for it. The only choice was where. He chose New Brunswick.”

This week was filled with magical moments and I hope to share as many as possible over coming days.

What a week! Thank you to everyone at NBCC @mynbcc for the most inspiring and uplifting experience. I had the honour of speaking in Moncton, Saint John, Miramichi and Fredericton as part of the Wesley Armour School of Business Speaker Series. The goal of the series is simple and powerful: to bring students and faculty together to learn, connect and explore what is possible when we start exactly where we are and embrace the place we call home.

It was a joy to meet and speak with more than 1,000 brilliant, driven students. The future of this province is in very good hands.
