A Special Gathering at Elgiz Museum as Part of Contemporary Istanbul

As part of the 21st edition of Contemporary Istanbul, Elgiz Museum hosted international guests for a private brunch. Following the brunch, Mexican artist Alex Hank and writer-philosopher Bailey Kai came together for a conversation titled Materiality of Obsession, exploring Hank’s practice of reinterpreting photographic images through wood and pencil, with a focus on materiality, craftsmanship, repetition, imagery, and obsession.

The conversation offered an insight into Hank’s multidisciplinary practice, which explores themes of power, intimacy, innocence, and human emotions, while also serving as a preview of the artist’s upcoming solo exhibition planned to take place at Elgiz Museum in 2027.
