Bouldin Creek has always felt like the heartbeat of Austin to me.

There’s history here. Character. Creativity. A deep sense of community that somehow still exists in the middle of a fast-growing city. You feel it in the local businesses, the green spaces, the old homes, the people, and the way this neighborhood has stayed true to itself through so much change.

My family has been connected to Bouldin Creek since the 1970s, so being featured in @tribeza’s Neighborhood Guide feels incredibly meaningful and personal ♥️

I loved getting to talk about what makes this area so special: from the walkability and local spots to the unique mix of architecture and the relaxed South Austin spirit that continues to define it.

There’s nowhere else quite like Bouldin Creek.

I love cyclical systems. The Medicine Wheel. Astrology. Seasonal rituals. Anything that helps us mark time and create containers for transformation.

I don’t believe these frameworks aren’t meant to predict your life, they’re meant to reflect it back to you. They give you permission to name what you’re feeling, to grieve what needs to die, to step into what’s trying to emerge.

And that permission has a great deal of power.

I’ve watched the Chinese zodiac become more mainstream over the last few years, and there’s something beautiful about that.

More people tapping into ancient wisdom. More people paying attention to cycles instead of just grinding through them. More people giving themselves language for what they’re experiencing.

But for me, the real reminder is this:
These systems only work if you work with them.

The fire horse isn’t going to charge into your life and fix everything. It’s not going to motivate you, heal you, or transform you. You have to do that. The archetype is just the fuel. The archetype. The framework.

And honestly, sometimes I think we get so caught up in the cosmic permission slip that we forget we already have everything we need to change. We’re just waiting for the “right time” to give ourselves permission to act on what we already know.

So if the fire horse energy resonates with you, (if it makes you feel wild, free, unstoppable) then use it. Ride that momentum. Let it remind you of who you actually are beneath all the doubt and hesitation.

But if it doesn’t make sense for you? If your year feels different, quieter, more internal? That’s valid too. You don’t have to perform someone else’s archetype.

What I’m saying is: these cycles are real and they’re what you make of them. Both things can be true.

Happy Year of the Fire Horse! May it be whatever you need it to be.
