Behind the scenes of the “God of Forgiveness, God of Vengeance” fashion show in Grand Rapids

This was such a daunting experience putting on an entire show by myself but I’m so overjoyed that I did it.

The months leading up to this night truly taught me what it means to have continued dedication to a craft. The late nights, the twelve hour days, those times that I was terrified it wouldn’t work out. Those are the experiences that I will continue to look back on when things get tough.

The ability to express yourself through any medium, especially clothing, is such a vulnerable yet powerful privilege that I will continue to cherish.

LOOK #5 OF THE “GOD OF FORGIVENESS, GOD OF VENGEANCE” FASHION SHOW

The headpiece of this ensemble is the clear focal point. Bold in both appearance and of message. Welded together, this trompe l’oeil of tree branches expresses my philosophy when it comes to design.

I see little point in creating clothing without message. World building along with the clothing is something I deem as not only necessary but often times equally as important as the clothing as without one another, the full scope of what I’m trying to express can’t be fully understood.

Thank you so much to my beautiful girlfriend @jade.payne._ for wearing this outfit. You did so well darling!

LOOK #1 FOR THE "GOD OF FORGIVENESS GOD OF VENGEANCE” FASHION SHOW

Worn by the amazing @baileyyabram, this look demonstrates my continued improvement to craftsmanship and world building.

The top is a linen lined black velvet bolero jacket. Military motifs of epaulets are added to create a sense of power through connotation and silhouette.

The stretch velvet pants complete the look, featuring the same golden trims which are accentuating the extreme high low hemline.

The headpiece of deer antlers represent the death of my dear friend, Brittany Howard. Past its skeletal appearance, the antler are small and juvenile much like Brittany as she passed tragically at the age of 28.
