Meet me in the mountains, because that’s the only place I wanna be 🏔️

Skiing has been a bucket list item for me for as long as I can remember, and having my inaugural run in the Rockies with great friends was a surreal adventure.

Huge mega shoutout to @itsasinch, @spoolhelm, and @melsquared22 for being the best teachers and guiding me down some trails that were definitely too ambitious for a complete beginner. Walking today is proving to be a little difficult, but I’m in love and can’t wait to hit the slopes again.

P.S. I went up three lifts, and only fell getting off one, so I’m calling that a massive win 😂

Happy Holidays!! We’re all traveling home for layoff today, but don’t fear! We’ll be continuing with our Meet Us Monday series through the break!! Today, meet our bassist (and unofficial band photographer), Bakari Williams!

Howdy y’all, my name is Bakari, and I’ve been playing bass for about 12 years now. I was born and raised in Dallas, TX, but for the past 2 years, I have called New York City home.

I first picked up the bass around 12 years old after switching from violin, and I never looked back. I have since earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, both in Music Performance. Being a mostly classically trained musician, it was a huge leap of faith to join this tour as my first gig fresh out of school, but I have enjoyed every bit of it so far and am excited to see what the rest of the touring life has to offer.

Other than just being a musician, I like doing a wide variety of things. I enjoy exercising, sports, video games, reading, and cooking - just to name a few. I love adventuring, exploring, and trying new things; I’ll always try anything twice.

Fun facts:
-If I didn’t play bass, I would want to learn to play trumpet
-I desperately want to be multilingual and am trying to learn Spanish
-I love math and science, and almost became a Chemical Engineer
-I have trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 4 years
