From our Textures and Structure class with the amazing @bake4mecanada and @apwunderbar

In every class I teach, I never want my students to copy the exact same design. I want them to bring something of themselves into their work, whether it is through color, composition, molds, or the way they create movement.
To me, teaching is not just about showing techniques or assembling elements. It is about psychology, understanding why artists feel stuck and helping them rediscover those butterflies.

That process is not always easy. It takes trust, openness, and the willingness to let go in a short period of time. But that is exactly what I love most about teaching, watching the moment those butterflies come back and seeing the growth that follows. That kind of transformation cannot happen through copying. It comes from expression, exploration, and individuality.

I also love seeing each artist’s unique style as they work. Every person who walks into my studio inspires me, the way they think, the way they see color, how they combine elements, and how they evolve. That is what fuels my butterflies 🦋
Over these two days, I truly enjoyed working with both of these incredible artists.

Nana, your determination and persistence were so inspiring. You kept pushing and refining every line and every detail, even with limited time. Your dedication to perfecting your work and your ability to stay focused for hours is something truly special. I admire your commitment to your craft so much.

Damilola, your quiet confidence and flow were beautiful to watch. Balancing your business and your family while still showing up to grow and learn speaks volumes. You absorbed everything so attentively, and even when directions shifted, you embraced the process with such grace. Your calm and observant energy is powerful.
So proud of you both 💛
