Amanda Roff played her first gig aged 5, thanks to her parents’ participation in the Newcastle Folk Club and Trades Hall Workers Cultural Action Committee.

She connected with music from Chile, South Africa and beyond and spent much of her teens playing in punk bands and climbing through the windows of bowls clubs to get into gigs.

As someone consumed by culture, Amanda knew that Naarm-Melbourne was where she had to be: “So exotic to me that it might as well have been Paris”.

She worked at @bakehousestudios for five years and @thetotehotel as a booker and bartender for six years, and the arthouse hotel for its final year.

We talked of Adrian Rawlins, champion of avant-garde music and poetry, whose statue stands in Fitzroy, and his Australian encounters with Little Richard. We talked about @makeitupclub, still running at Bar Open and the interchange between music, poetry and improvisation that crackle across Melbourne’s urban culture.

We also talked of Amanda’s musical adventures from Loose and Bitchcraft to Ukeladies, Harmony and @timefordreamers. She has performed backing vocals with Moon Rituals, @dankellysongs, @_thedrones_ , @donwalkermusicofficlal, among musical contributions which illustrate the many underlying connections between folk, country, soul and free music in Naarm-Melbourne.

After almost thirty years in the avant-garde Amanda is still singing, writing and observing the scenes with a unique eye and ear.

Thank you @doctor_roff

A few moments from the Forever This Way MV. The chorus, the story and the little ad-libs at the end that I’ve not shared earlier. They are special for our special ones….
This song was written on my 10th wedding anniversary, lots of feelings here 🌱

You can now watch the full video on my YT channel. Link in my bio.

永遠如此MV現在已經發行到我的YouTube頻道了！這首歌對我來說挺特別的，想說在這裡分享幾個片段，這也是我在我結婚10週年寫的歌，希望你也能把這首歌送給你最親愛的人❤️
