“This immersive, room-scale audiovisual installation traverses the liminal terrain between memory and imagination, grief and transcendence. Anchored in the psychic residue of childhood recollections, My Dog Max meditates on loss, weight, and the porous membrane between the material and spirit worlds—where the animals and companions of our lives act as emissaries to something beyond human perception.

Set within the speculative universe of Sayssiworld, the work introduces the slollas—amorphous, otherworldly entities that hover at the edge of cognition. The viewer is guided by Max, a slolla embodied as a spirit-wolf-dogdragon, and the four Sayssi Hands, spectral appendages that reach, beckon, and yearn, each tethered to a distinct memory fragment. Platforms and celestial markers embedded in the floor invite participants into a choreographed navigation of these mnemonic portals.

The piece unfolds as a six-minute meditative video, enveloping the participant in a hybrid ecology of sound and image. Sculpted through an interplay of VR-based 3D modeling, AI-generated textures, and Blender compositing, the work blurs the boundary between the organic and the algorithmic. Rolling wall structures—elongated, ephemeral forms—cascade across the visual field, their surfaces infused with AI-assisted painterly interventions. The 3D soundscape, composed and performed in GarageBand, disperses across a 24-speaker array to generate an enveloping sonic topology, a collaboration with @laax_94 that transforms auditory space into emotional architecture.

Through this constellation of media and processes, ‘My Dog Max’ invites the viewer into a stream-of-consciousness encounter with absence and presence, corporeality and ether, proposing the slollas as a metaphor for all that is felt but remains unseen.”

This piece is about childhood memories, grief, loss, and weight, and the bridge between our world and the spirit world through the animals / pets we love. the sayssiworld is a made up universe where ‘slollas’ —abstract creatures— exist just outside human perception. in this piece you are guided by Max, a slolla in the form of a spirit-wolf-dogdragon, and the four sayssi hands. reaching and yearning and beckoning. each hand corresponds to a different memory. There are platforms and stars on the floor for you to stand on… each platform corresponds to one of the sayssi hands of memory. it’s abstract / stream of consciousness.

It’s a roomscale audiovisual installation… the video is around 6 minutes long. i made it using #blender with a lot of 3D modeling done in VR. the 3D surrounds slollas made with a combination of AI and 3D. there are a couple of sequences of “rolling walls”… long tall skinny 3D models i made in @adobemedium that roll past the camera that @xyzalanix helped me paint in AI using @comfyui. i made all the music and scoring garageband, and @laax_94 helped me spread the 126 audio tracks across the 24 speakers around the room to create the 3D sound.
