CHIC × MARCELINO

Spontan choreo moment during the final hours of my first trip to Leipzig with this icon ✨

Originally created in 2019 on a select dancers from the National Ballet of Canada @nationalballet and revived in 2022 by @ballet22_ , this work finds a new life with @marcelinolibao .

I came to Leipzig spontaneously, after more than six years of conversations with an artist I’d always wanted to meet. I left feeling full, loved, and reminded of the possibilities that open when we take a leap of faith.

Marcelino is the first trans Filipina principal dancer in @leipzigerballett history. Creating with her was iconic. Trans artists deserve more visibility, more platforms, and more opportunities to share their artistry. I’m so happy to see this company giving her the FLOWERS she was made to receive!
May this soulful Black music find its way into more ballet spaces. 🤍

“In a dance world that continues to operate in a binary way, driven by heteronormative stories, iconography, and esthetics, “Intimité Révélée” intends to… normalize what queer love could look like in dance film.”
– Lorris Eichinger, choreographer
