Congratulations to Graphic Design senior, Alyssa Vena on being selected as a recipient of the Joe and Carol Trimmer Award for her Outstanding Honors Creative Project!

Presented by the Ball State University Honors College, this honor recognizes exceptional undergraduate scholarship and the significance and quality of a student’s capstone work. Alyssa earned this distinction for her senior graphic design campaign, Pawse, a thoughtfully conceived and research-driven design intervention that connects students and young adults with local animal shelters through accessible, low-pressure volunteering opportunities. Through this work, Alyssa creates what she describes as a “win-win-win” scenario in which users benefit from restorative engagement, shelters receive much-needed support, and animals experience improved quality of life. Her project is distinguished by its analytical depth and user-centered approach, reflecting a high level of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a deeply community-minded approach to design.
